Legacy Downloads

Downloads for older versions of our software.
If you are using an older system that cannot run the latest versions of our software, or have purchased one in the past, you can download these legacy versions from this page.

These legacy versions are no longer for sale. They are provided here only as a courtesy to existing licence holders. If you are a new user, or if you wish to download a trial of either application, please note that you need to install the current version of Scrivener or Scapple. The options on this page will not give you a sense of what you will be buying in terms of system requirements and features.

Scrivener

Scrivener 3.1.4.1

This is the final version of Scrivener 3 for Windows which runs on 32-bit systems, or those using Windows 8. If you are running Windows 10+ on a 64-bit system, then you should download the latest version instead.

Scrivener 1.9.17

The last version of Scrivener 1 for Windows. This requires Windows 7 SP1+ with .NET Framework 4.6.2+, and has been tested up to Windows 10 October 2020 Update (20H2). It has not been tested, nor is it supported to run this version of Scrivener, on any more recent version of Windows.

Scapple

Scapple 1.2.6

This version of Scapple is the last that will run on 32-bit systems and on Windows 8 and 8.1. If you have downloaded from the main website and received a warning about being unable to launch the installer on account of it being 64-bit, you will need to install this version instead:
