Thanks for making this. This installed okay on my computer and system. I am running ubuntu 11.04 32 bit. There was an error about file size, I think, but I ignored it, and Scrivener runs fine.

Oops! Thank you, and sorry for the late reply. But no, you shouldn’t have to uninstall the old version first. I imagine you’ve already found that out, though, so again, sorry for not answering soon enough to be of help. My excuse is that I’m kind of lame like that.
