Does your chromebook have an ARM processor? Won't work, if so. (Scrivener's compiled for x86/x86-64.)

Try opening a terminal window, and launch Scrivener with a terminal command. You should then see a string of messages indicating the fault response.

Try opening a terminal window, and type:

sudo apt-get install libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-0

Then try to open scrivener again. It worked for me (on Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS).
