How do I import from Word via Dropbox?

Hi guys It's been several years since my last contribution, but now I'm back in the game - thanks to finally getting hold of the awesome iOS version - I'll likely be nosing around here a bit more. One thing I can't fathom though, is how to import a Word doc. According to this https://www.literaturea...

Re: Writing a Book Series (Need Ideas/Suggestions)

Hi Scribbles

I too am working in a similar fashion (on a trilogy) and for that reason simply use folders for Books 1/2/3 as mentioned already. Each folder has the relevant scenes etc - any of which can be moved easily from book to another should the story dictate as such.

Re: Sorting meta-data column in Outliner not working

Doh! I already use that format for some of my Outlook folders so I should have thought of that myself.

Thanks all.

Sorting meta-data column in Outliner not working

I've decided the best way (ATM) to manage the chronology of scenes is to create a meta-data field called 'Dateline' and use this while in Outliner view. However, sorting by this column doesn't work when using date formats (which is to be expected), so I've begun pre-fixing the date with a numerical ...

Re: Can both editors be used simultaneously like ...

Thanks for the speedy replies Keith/AmberV. No idea how I missed that - I'll put it down to having only 2 hours sleep the night before. Works a treat - exactly what I was looking for.

Much appreciated.

Can both editors be used simultaneously like ...

... this: Let's say the top editor is in either of the three viewing modes (document, corkboard or outliner) - can the bottom editor dynamically change to show the document selected above? This would be particularly handy for scrolling up and down the corkboard or outliner while seeing the full docu...

Printing all columns in outliner?

So far I've only been able to print document titles with their synopses. Is there any way to print the remaining columns? Sometimes it's handy to break away from the screen and look at something on paper, i.e. a 10 page 'timeline' of the key scenes in your novel. And IMO it would be incredibly handy...

Editing/changing keywords in outliner?

Basically, is this possible?

I know you can drag keywords across from the HUD, but what if you want to quickly remove or change an existing one? Can only seem to achieve this by switching away from outliner.

Thanks

Re: Using Scrivener with Dropbox

Ash and Harbourlite - have you looked into using Simplenote? Scriv 2.0 allows you to sync specific documents with Simplenote, which in turn makes them available to edit on your iPhone. Any changes you make can then be sent back to SN which can then be pulled by Scriv.

Re: Any updates on Mac/Windows compatibility?

convert your 1.x projects to 2.x on the Mac, since it will do everything for you and the 2.x version will be compatible with Windows But just how comprehensive is "will be compatible with Windows"? Will any of the extra goodness (or indeed the everyday goodness) in a Mac 2.0 file be lost ...

Can't customise toolbar in 2.0.4

Have just upgraded to 2.0.4 but can no longer customise the toolbar. Can open the window but can't actually drag anything onto the 'bar' because nothing sticks.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks
Simon

EDIT: Also can't remove any of the default icons.

019: Collections - not quite working properly?

I think I'm now getting my head around the way Collections work, with the exception that I don't think they quite work (for me anyway) on a technical level. Maybe this is because only a portion of the Mac 2.0 functionality has so far been brought across? Am I right in thinking documents can be rearr...

Any updates on Mac/Windows compatibility?

Have been absolutely flat out with the day job for months, so unfortunately using Scriv on the Mac has been put on the backburner. But I'm now returning to the fold - at least I hope so - and suddenly realised there's a <cough> Windows version :D </cough - this time contemplating why I bought a MBP ...

Re: Dropbox alternatives?

I'm also a big fan of Dropbox, but use it only for accessing work related content from PC and laptop. Am currently storing my Scriv story content on there but will probably remove it soon because I want to avoid any possible corruptions (paranoia maybe?) even though I won't be accessing it elsewhere...
