Re: ToC no page numbers for folders

The ToC has its own section layout, but I can’t format it in such a way that the numbers stay on the right side of the page. How do I define that? It sounds like you are describing everything being in order, but if you have it set up right this shouldn’t be a problem. So I’d investigate what part o...

Re: See entire text rather than summary in outline view? (Or, make summary full-length?)

You’re quite welcome! I look forward to discussing any further matters of implementation. I’d say as a general rule of thumb: look to how Scrivener’s features work with binder items . The Documents menu, Quick Search, metadata in the inspector, Collections, search results, etc. The other thing Scriv...

Re: Double Connection

You might want to check out the Quick Start Guide from the Help menu, if you haven’t already. It goes over these questions as well as a few other things that may help you out. To double-arrow connect, drag and drop one item onto the other with the Shift and Command keys held down. For formatting, ag...

Re: Help with Block Quotes

Both of these requests should be easy to achieve with a little customisation. For each you will find the relevant settings in the Styles compile format pane, so load up the compile format designer and head there, clicking on the “Block Quote” entry in the style list. ⋅  Paragraph spacing :...

Re: ToC no page numbers for folders

In the user manual, under §22.1.2, Things to Watch Out For , it sounds like you’re dealing with “Missing page numbers”: …if some items come out with no page number, check to make sure those items are included in the compile settings, and are set to output text… An example of how this might occur is ...

Re: Trouble Creating Dates in Meta Data Field

I don’t understand what the problem is. Never had this issue until version 3 when the calendar icon also shows up in the data field. You would have been using a plain-text field in version 2, there were no other metadata field types back then. Version 3 adds a date type, which should work for most ...

Re: When switching between texts, places me in the middle of the text

Scrivener remembers where you were working the last time you viewed a document. There is no way to switch that off and force it to load a document at the very top every time you click on it. I’m on the opposite side of you I suppose, as I would find it very annoying to have to remember where I was a...

Re: Mac Mojave: Scrivener does not open to where I left off

Sorry for the delay in getting back with you. Your response got pushed down the list while I was on holiday and lost on page two. It will then return me to the highlighted line, but even when I switch to a different chapter in my document, then return to the chapter where the highlighted line is, it...

Re: See entire text rather than summary in outline view? (Or, make summary full-length?)

There is one very important difference between the kind of outline view that Word provides, and the kind of outliner that Scrivener is: ⋅  The former is based entirely upon the stylesheet of the document; in order for there to be outline detail there must be outline level styles in use, an...

Re: Scapple still being developed?

Glad to hear you like how it's put together! Like I say, we'll have an update out in a bit with 10.14 Dark Mode support; so while it may not get frequent feature updates (that was last year, when connection labels and the style panel was added), we do work to keep it modernised and bug free.

Re: Is there a way to Maintain (or revert) to Default Editor Width for Screenplays

Zoom to Fit Screen is a different command, what you want is just “Zoom”. It is an old (very old) Mac standard that is different from maximising the window, instead the idea is to make the window fit the content demands within it (and by default it also acts as a toggle between that “most efficient” ...

Re: Is there a way to Maintain (or revert) to Default Editor Width for Screenplays

It’s worth adding that the width you set in the preference pane Keith mentions is also used to calculate the width of the editor part of the window, when using the Window ▸ Zoom command (⌃⌘-).

It doesn’t cover every scenario, but it works well for most.

Re: An Open Source Substitute for Scrivener

No problem, I’ve moved it for you! And for the record I don’t really have a problem with people posting “what else, then?” threads in a board for an unofficial version of Scrivener that was discontinued years ago. Generally speaking it’s a good idea to keep such discussions in the general software a...

Re: Compile as separate files

I posted a specific solution and example project in this thread over here . You might find it does a little more than you need, since it was set up to not only split Markdown files up, but post-process each file into .tex files. But it shouldn’t be too difficult to adjust it so that it merely writes...
