Suggestions on Gamification?

Hey friends. I like setting goals for daily writing. I usually hit 5k+ words per day, and like to get that recorded somewhere. Two reasons: 1) because I like seeing the numbers go up and giving myself a high-five, and 2) because I like to track which days I perform better on as it helps me tune my p...

This is spectacular! Thank you for sharing. I love being able to have different look and feel in my software :D

"Check Spelling While Typing" as default?

Hey friends. This setting here in Scriv 3: Screen Shot 2017-12-04 at 3.27.46 PM.png I would like this on by default, but each new Scriv project seems to have it disabled. Is there a setting to have this on by default? If it's supposed to be on by default, how would I give it a kick into remembering ...

TYVM for this. It's working right. I had to jiggle some of the separator settings to make it work, but I've got it sorted now. Thanks again, lifesaver :)

Re: Help with new compile formats

Have you tried (in Section) unticking the Use Default Separators option, then add the custom bullet to Separator before Sections? (ie as well has having it in the Section - Section separator.) Yep, I've tried this. The problem then becomes each Section having the custom separator, even after e.g. a...

Re: Help with new compile formats

But the break between "1" and "2" uses a custom break just fine. I'll need to show this in the next post because the forum won't let me add more than 3 screenshots. This is what it looks like: Screen Shot 2017-11-24 at 7.36.15 AM.png So that custom separator is working fine. Acc...

Re: Help with new compile formats

So from my reading it sounds like you’ve hammered out most of it by this point and are down to the separators issue. Correct! All down to you really, I was just following the sheet music. So, thanks :) but given your layout, are you paying attention to the Section Type assignments inside the back m...

Re: Help with new compile formats

I'm just going to sit back and match the Maestro at work. LOL :D Except to suggest, Ioa, that maybe this thread might be usefully turned into a blog post? Sort of a worked example of both how to think about compiling in Scrivener 3 and how to set up a specific reasonably complex situation? FWIW I w...

Re: Help with new compile formats

Ok, with my setup I'm encountering a limitation of either the custom separators or my understanding: Screen Shot 2017-11-23 at 5.17.20 PM.png This is a snippet from Kindle where there should be a custom separator. I can get the entire rest of the document to work perfectly - custom separators, back ...

Re: Help with new compile formats

for a spell I had a sickening feeling that we’d made a mistake and that it wasn’t going to be worth the change. This is roughly where I am now. I've been reading the manual, the tutorial, playing around, and I've lost an entire day's productivity trying to get this to work "right." I am s...

Help with new compile formats

I'll admit it, the new system has me totally confused. I'm having real trouble with the tutorial helping me move from Scrivener 2 to 3 compilation. Learning through doing is a thing, so can anyone help me with the following setup? My project looks like this: Screen Shot 2017-11-23 at 11.59.10 AM.png...

Re: Scrivener, High Sierra, and Backups

Could I have a show of hands? How many of those with the null backup/lost preferences issue obtained Scrivener via the App Store? Got mine from the App Store. Which I will remedy on Monday when 3.0 launches and I can get the u/g direct :) The automatic backup location is a Scrivener-wide setting. A...

Re: Scrivener, High Sierra, and Backups

I've got some updates to share on this from my end. 1. While the most regular behavior is to have "null" reported as the backup location, I've had it error out but the preferences still show the correct backup file location (this is rare, but it does happen - that is, Scriv thinks /this/pa...
