do nothing. After I tick it and click on the apply button, nothing happens. If I close the options window, while this option is still ticked, then reopen it, the same option is unticked again.

I can confirm.

I was able to change notes background colors on the next tab, however.

Yes, this is a bug. I am afraid this option will be removed in the next update and will be added post official release.

I did want the option to change those colors. Pity. Ah, well.
