I'm no programmer, but the expression

Unsafe JavaScript attempt to access frame with URL http://www.drudgereport.com/ from frame with URL

suggests that the problem is either in your JavaScript or in the code on the Drudge Report page. Drudge appears to be sending you lots of cookies and DoubleClick reports. (Along with right-wing propaganda, but I digress.)

Not sure what you can do about it, except check your Safari Preferences: Security and experiment with checking Web Content and Cookies options on and off.

You could put them in 150pt bright red arial bold on the front page and people would still email you about them. Some people will just never read documentation or info pages, sadly.

Hi Keith,
First, I'd like to say that I've had no problems using this beta and Tiger.

I just ran into this today: when I select a couple of documents in the binder and click on the Group icon in the toolbar, a new folder appears between the documents. Selecting the documents and clicking Group from the menu does work, however.

Otherwise, I haven't run into any problems (except those in my brain ).

The Group icon the toolbar is actually the "New Group" command (hence the "+" sign), so it doesn't actually group selected documents.

The last days I had several Scrivener crashes. Keith, I will send you the crash log(s) as PM.

I wanted increasingly using Scrivener as researching tool. So I imported .pdf documents and Web-Archives, read them and wrote notes. I believe the crashes are related either to these .pdfs or Web-Archives. I imported them dragging the URL to the Binder, or exporting them from DevonThink Pro and importing to Scrivener. This DT Export consists also of many .rtf and .rtfd documents.

Most of the times the crashes happen while I am not working within Scrivener. I noticed the last one when returning to the desktop, the iMac has not yet been asleep.

This happened on my iMac G5 and my iBook G4. Both with Mac Os 10.4.11, Scrivener 1.12 beta (SK) (What does this SK mean?)

I changed one tiny thing working with the last beta: I dislike the start panel when there is no open project, I don’t want to be forced to quit Scrivener and reopen it. Therefore I always have a project waiting in the dock, even when not using the application. (I read, this will be changed with the next update, no problem for me meanwhile.) I can’t believe this causes crashes.

Very strange. Until now no lost data, no problems reopening the projects. Another Apple bug?

I am Compiling my draft and exporting it to Word. At first glance it seems to be fine, but scrolling through the Word document throws up some lines that run over the right margin. Indeed whole paragraphs do it. there seems to be no pattern to it, some paragraphs can be fine and some overrun within the same chapter.

I have set the text formatting in the Compile Draft panel and all the Keep boxes are unticked. I have also ticked the Override text formatting in the formatting tab.


I am running 1.12 beta

I've managed to reproduce this in a test document (albeit for all paragraphs) by changing the default font in the Compile option and ticking the 'Font only' box next to it. If I unselect it is fine. I've just done this on my main project and it works fine. Hurrah!

Sorry for the false alarm, I think I misunderstood the purpose of the font only button.

Ah - yes, "Font only" means that only the font gets changed and none of the paragraph settings are affected. So if your paragraph margins were too wide, I suppose you could get the results you describe in Word, though I'm surprised Word doesn't wrap anyway in that situation.

The window is closed by the red close widget at top of window.

I cannot think of any application off the top of my head that deals in large projects or highly specific file formats as its file base, and creates a new one when you click on the icon. TextEdit? Ok, I can understand making a new window---but Scrivener? How would it know where to save the project, what template to use, what to name it? I'm not a big fan of splash screens, either, but at least they can be ignored. A new project wizard popping up when I didn't ask it to---now that would be annoying.

The way I understand it, this convention is what gave cause for the splash screen in the first place. Some programs just do not suit themselves to spawning new documents like that; and it is better to let the user make a decision to initiate the file creation process. What bit per pixel settings, resolution, and colour depth should Photoshop choose for its default auto-image? Should Dreamweaver just build a random site project folder and attach it to some random web page's FTP server?
