Name Generator not as good as Mac's

It’s a pity the name generator for Windows is not as good as the one for MacOS.

The alliteration or obscurity options would be fantastic!

I’m just starting to use Scrivener and I’m really liking it. Great job!

The name generator is pretty much a side project, and they’re entirely different, according to the whims of and tools available to the separate developers. They don’t have the same preset name lists in the database or share any code. I don’t know that one is necessarily better than the other, just different. Yes, the Windows version doesn’t include the obscurity or “attempt alliteration” options; the Mac version doesn’t include name meanings. Both do give you the option of choosing a start letter for first and last name, so you could always force alliteration with specific letters.

Glad to hear you’re liking Scrivener!

In my opinion, the name meanings is the best (worst time waster) feature of the name generator and, in fact, the only reason why I like it. Otherwise, I don’t think I would have ever opened it yet. I’ve spent hours perusing name meanings (and it’s how I got the last name for the main supporting character of my book) in the windows version, and it’s the one thing I wish the mac did better than it does now.
