Hi there!

This is my first problem with the Scrivener beta for windows. It's tourn out that my "insert" key is deactivated on every launch. I did some test, writing right after on Word and other apps without pressing it; on the others apps is activated. I'm not sure for how long is this happening, because I didn´t use Scrivener with the patch before the actual (for sure is one of those).

I have no idea if this problem has to do with Scrivener, Windows or my keyboard, but it seems a bit strange that is happening only with Scrivener beta.

I hope my explanation is clear. I'm writing from Spain. If this is an issue that has been reported before, my apologies. I only read a few post (I don't have enough time right now, and I'm aware that you're about to realase the final version).

Keep up the good work! Already a Mac user; already with the money saved for the Windows version.

I believe this may be the same bug as the one I am experiencing. The way I would explain it is this: "Overtype Mode" appears to be enabled by default, only on this application, whenever I start it up. I call it this because there is a checkbox in "Settings - Editing - Options" marked "Use the Insert key to control overtype mode".

There seems to be no setting to automatically enable or disable the actual 'Overtype mode' upon startup. Until just this last revision, Scrivener has always automatically started up (for me) with the mode off.

(In my computer, I always have the mode off. I never got used to using overtype.)

It's caused a little temporary grief when I first start typing and forget about the bug, but it's easily "fixed" by hitting the 'Insert' key once. The "Use the Insert key to control overtype mode" works just fine as a toggle.

Well, now the insert key does work, toggles between insert/overtype modes, so that's great.

But Scrivener 2.9.0.25 launches every time with overtype mode toggled on, no matter what state I closed the app in. This gets me every time. I open Scrivener, position my cursor, start typing only to clobber the text to the right of the cursor. Very annoying. Default should be insert mode on startup, no question.

Another irksome change that came with this version is that Scrivener now opens, no matter what, with its window maximized. Please revert back to the standard behavior of opening the window in whichever state it was the last time I closed it. Thanks!

The devs are already aware of the issue with overtype mode launching and have said it will revert back to Insert mode as the default upon launch in the next beta, FYI.

Okay, good. I was starting to think I was going crazy, or pressing Ins instead of backspace every time. :P

Separate bug. If you report it separately, it will likely garner more attention.
