There appear to be language conflicts between British and American English between the MacOS and iOS versions. I keep getting notified about spelling errors on one device that aren't errors on the other based on the variations between the two languages. It would be cool if we were able to choose which dictionary to use, but apparently the iOS version only has an American dictionary.

Spelling in iOS is determined via the onscreen keyboard you have selected on your iOS device. Go to

Settings App > General > Keyboard > Keyboards > Add New Keyboard...

Select the keyboard with the spelling variant you prefer. Delete the US spelling one if you wish. If you use a hardware keyboard as well, you will need to select the appropriate spelling for that, too. Go to

Settings App > General > Keyboard > Hardware Keyboard

Tap whatever it says now, and select instead "British."

Hope this helps.
