I'm kind of bummed since I worked on it for hours today. I even had a power outage and was afraid I wouldn't be able to send it, but I was excited when the power came back on just in time.

I know there's nothing that can be done about it now, but I'm sad it didn't make it in.
OH NO! :(

I've done a thorough search -- I can't find any submissions from you tanyareed. I've got your email from this morning but the last thing I received from you prior to that was your April Apocolypse Edition chapter (including in my junk mail as I check that every 30mins during the day). I"m really sorry about that! I wonder what happened?!

tanyareed - if you email me a copy of your completed chapter I will compile a version for you later in the week and email it across. In the meantime, I can confirm that you would have been Chapter 17 so you can check out those in the published books to see how others did with the same brief. No tweaking and editing before you send it, though!!!

That is so bizarre! I sent two emails to you. One verifying that I got your email on the mistake in my original brief and one with my chapter in it. It sounds like some crazy glitch or something from either my computer or my ISP.

I will definitely send along my chapter! Thanks for going to the trouble to do that for me. I've been having the week from hell, so I'm not surprised that something like this happened.

Aw, mine was chapter 17. It fun to write, but reading through it I can only apologise for my looooonnnngggg sentences. I also seem to be the only person who gave Clinton Red robes :( (and I promise I did google 'what colour robes.... ' ) Weirdly, the chapter 18s I've read so far don't seem to have known that anything happened to Jean. I'd love to read your version of 17, Tanya.

So, now what I need is a RNIAD -- Read-a-Novel-in-a-Day -- event. How else am I going to justify pushing aside the new 24/7 craziness still quaintly called "work" so I can get to read the darned thing?! If something is not on deadline, I can't do it. It's not just me, right?

Thank you Rog, for letting me redeem myself a bit from the SNAFUs from 2 previous NIADs as well as the extraordinary work you put into each of these events.

Why are some mugs in yellow, and others not?
Is this some deep-dark secret, known only to a small cabal of NIAD cognoscenti, or what? :twisted:

Good morning, fellow humans!

I'm very happy to announce that the 2020 NiaD award badges have now been uploaded! Sorry about the delay this year -- we had some technical issues that meant things took a little longer than usual. We're investigating a new badge hosting approach that would solve this problem in the future (and hopefully make future years' badges instantly available), but we've decided to park that to 2021 to give us time to get it working and delay you no further!

For those not sure how to add a badge... it's in our lovely FAQs viewtopic.php?f=51&t=28574&p=191541#p191541

but...

FAQs wrote:Hey! I also wrote a NiaD! Where can I get one of those sweeeet forum badges?
A number of forum badge files have been uploaded to http://www.pigfender.com/NiaD_Badge/
You'll need to add the filename to the end of that address to see the image.

The files have been named according to the number of NiaDs you've taken part in. So if you took part in NiaDs 1, 2, 3, and 4 then the file name is 1-2-3-4.png (with a full path of http://www.pigfender.com/NiaD_Badge/1-2-3-4.png)

Similarly, if you took part in NiaDs 2 and 3, the file name would be 2-3.png

I've not made badges for every possible combination, only for the sequences that people have actually taken part in. If you think I've gotten this wrong, let me know. :)

To save you a few precious keystrokes, you can just paste the following text into your forum signature, adjusting, of course, the "1-2-3-4.png" part to get the correct PNG file representing the years you've taken part:

Code: Select all

[url=http://novelinaday.com][img]www.pigfender.com/NiaD_Badge/1-2-3-4.png[/img][/url]

Note, if you also took part in our special 9 and 1/2 edition, the badge for that is a different file and can be added with the image address http://www.pigfender.com/NiaD_Badge/9half.png.

My suggested way of adding both to your signature would be with the code:

Code: Select all

[url=http://novelinaday.com][img]www.pigfender.com/NiaD_Badge/1-2-3.png[/img][/url][img]www.pigfender.com/NiaD_Badge/9half.png[/img]
(changing the '1-2-3' in the first PNG to the main event NiaDs you've personally taken part in)

Look at that!

I wonder what Grrrrrrr will do to it this year?
