Short command for new connected note ^⌘→

I work on a Macbook with no separate arrow-keys on my keyboard.
See keyboard here:

The short command for a new connected note or a new note with arrow does not work with the little arrows on the laptop keyboard.
^⌘→ and all alike
The arrows work with zoom in and out perfectly well...

Or is it the tiny arrow upwards that does not do it's job??
I use the second key from the left top which gives these two signs ^ and °
Hmm Confused...

Yes I do use those but the command still does not work accordingly.
Maybe it is the first little arrow up that does not work??

Oh, wait, sorry. You mean the "^"? That is the OS X symbol for the "Control" key. So you need to hold down Control-Command-Arrow.
