AFAIK, Scrivener should remember either the cursor position or the selection on the current document when a new document is selected in the binder. Then, when you return via de go back key the cursor position should be restored on the original document.

However, on the Beta 5 it does not seem to be the case unless you have something selected. When the cursor is not selecting anything, going back does not seem to recover the old cursor position. Can you verify this?

I'm not seeing any difference in how this works in 1.7.0.6 and 1.6.1. The focus isn't in the text editor when you change documents, though, so you won't see the insertion point until you focus it by scrolling or using Ctrl+Tab. If you click into the editor to focus it, the insertion point will go to wherever you clicked.
