Is there a "zoom" feature for the main editor window? I've searched but I can't find it anywhere.

I have to set my font to 18pt or else I get about 20-25 words per line - which is hellish for reading.

There is no text zoom in this beta currently. Will will be looking at how we can implement this as we move through the beta period.

You might try this while you're waiting for the zoom feature to be implemented: when you need to do extended periods of reading, go to full screen view and use the paper width control (the slider on the lower right when in full screen mode) and make the paper narrower. Doesn't do a thing to make the type larger, but it does make fewer words on each line. I found that's a bit easier on my eyes. Hope it helps you, too. :)
