Has Windows Version 3 Been Scrapped?

Frankly, I can't see that any of that matters (who's to blame, what the bottom line is, etc.). As a customer (v1) and a potential customer (v3), I really don't care about any of that. I am (unfortunately?) not friends with the developers (i.e. I don't know any of them personally). All I care about is the tool because, frankly, I can use it to accomplish my own personal goals. I would like to have a non-beta version of v3 for that, sure. But it's not available in non-beta form at this time. Why it's taken so long? Not my concern, to be frank. As a customer, though, I am concerned about how long it's taking and how many missed "deadlines" there have been over the past years. Again, it's not my concern about how difficult the development is or isn't. But the delays, coupled with the attitude of some members of the forum, cause me to want to look elsewhere (whether that's rational or not, is another discussion). Both are just bad advertising for anyone coming here to find out information on the progress of v3, imo.

The idea that a project's failure to meet targets *must* be the result of the level of negligence or incompetence that warrants termination. Sometimes it is, of course, but saying that it *must* in *all* circumstances result in this level of sanction is deliberately antgonsitic and fallacious.

Hmm? You are so surprised to learn the fact that people have to make accounts to post their first comment or thread? FYI, everyone starts with zero and I see quite some newcomers just like myself in this very thread. Frankly, it is in fact shocking that you felt a strong urge to leave a pointless reply to me with a rather toxic intention. No offense, but your 4k posts are quite telling and I can only imagine how productive your life is. I am also amazed at your lack of general empathy and a basic understanding of the social phenomenon of people venting out their frustration. You are amazed? Really? It is nothing new, mate.

Also, your statement about giving a simple answer "NO" is irrelevant for the reasons I mentioned above; people simply want to vent out for the sake of venting out. And just FYI, my very first post wasn't even about the product itself. Personally, I could care less about Scriv3 for Wins as I already use other programs sufficiently. I only have been coming here one or two times a month to see what's going on ever since I purchased the product several months ago.

But you know what? I wouldn't have bothered to register today if it wasn't that pigfender's response to Stoltverd, particularly. In a feeble attempt to defend the product and the company, he/she committed strawman fallacy without realization and shamelessly applied mental gymnastics to invalidate generally true statements that anyone with common sense wouldn't dare to disapprove. It was so laughable so I couldn't help but to point out such silliness. In addition to that, whenever a complaint is made by someone in this thread, three or four fans showing up to defend the product dogmatically was another motivation for me to partake in the discussions. You guys surely know how to make things worse. /facepalm

And as a friendly note for you and other zealous fans here, realize that you are only making things worse by dismissing complainers with your sarcastic attitudes unless your true intention is indeed to annoy them for the sake of inflaming and dividing the community. Understand what is good for the community you "love" and realize what you are doing. Also, if you have nothing worthwhile to say, just don’t say it. That way you won't make yourself look sillier.

As a matter of fact, I don't mind waiting for Scriv3 so feel free to take as long as you need, LnL devs. Probably I won't be coming back here to make replies because I have busy, precious life and I have no interest in wasting my time further posting forum posts all day.

I’m not trying to have a "productive" life. Two kids are enough for me.

And about "the social phenomenon of people venting out their frustration" the key question is - frustration about what? People who have bought the fully functional Win version 1.9 are frustrated about not getting an updated, better version for free soon enough? I don’t see the logic in this. It’s not like they invested all their savings with a promise to gold and riches in the future and got nothing.

L&L could easily have said nothing, just kept selling version 1.9 and then one day - BANG! - release version 3 and say "You’re free to buy our updated version now - and bad luck to all those of you who just bought 1.9 but this is a paid upgrade so you’ll have to buy once more". So no, I don’t understand the frustration people vent. Like you they should go on with their lives and be productive using version 1.9 or some other app. I wouldn’t have upgraded to version 3 myself unless Apple had decided to scrapp all 32 bit apps. Now, that’s something to be frustrated about! I lost several fully functional apps when I upgraded to Catalina. Including ’Worms: Armageddon’!

I am going to propose a new subforum of the Scrivener for Windows forum: Venti, for just, you know, venting. No need for anyone to be annoyed by anything posted there. No need for anything posted there to make sense. Just folks venting. And then there could be two more sub-subforums: Venti Grande, for people venting largely and/or grandly; and Venti Trenta, for people venting trenchantly.

The funny thing about all trolls, they don’t seem to know they are trolls. Both sides of any argument are like that. It’s to the point that I’m near to withdrawing from all social media and forums only directly engaging companies via email. It may seem petty, but I don’t think I need to care about any of “it” anymore.
