Hiding char count (while still showing word count)?

Hey, sorry if this has been covered, I was unable to find it in a search.

Is there a way to turn off the character count that shows up on the bottom toolbar, while still showing the word count? I find the character count really distracting; my brain keeps wanting to interpret as word count, think "that can't be right..." and look at it again. The word-count I can be aware of subliminally, but the char-count is distracting and (to me) annoying.

Is there a way to turn it off that I've missed?

I like having the word count there, though :)

I'm afraid not. You could try hiding the footer entirely (View > Layout > Hide Footer View) and then keeping the floating Project Targets window open to keep track of your word count as you're typing; it's not per-document, but you could zero the session count by hitting "Reset" and then keep track of your new writing in each doc. You could also try opening an editor split and loading the document's container in the editor, then turn on the word count column there if it's not visible (and hiding other columns that you don't want). Then you could type in one split and watch the progress in the other!
