Binder has a strange area when the language setting is Japanese.

The first image is on English language setting. Binder does not have a strange area.

Scrivener version: 3.1.5 (12258)
MacOS version: 10.14.6

Reproduce procedure:

  1. Create or open a Scrivener project. (On English language setting)
  2. Show binder only. (Do not show collections)
  3. Change language to Japanese. (Menu bar -> Scrivener -> Preferences -> Language)
  4. Restart Scrivener and reopen the project.

This is a known issue, it should be fixed in the next update. In the meanwhile you can use 3.1.4 if you wish. You can always download the previous version from the release notes page.

You may have already identified the cause of the blank space, but I will report it just in case.
It seems that the cause is "MainDocument.nib" in the Japanese resource folder (ja.lproj).

Thanks! Yes, this should be fixed once the macOS 11 compatibility update is available.

Thank you for opening your latest test build, Ver. 3.2.1 (14541).

I tested it in Mac OS Ver.10.13.6, and Japanese language setting.

I created a project in previous version, and it opened in (14541),
Binder does not have a strange area.
It was corrected.

But "show collections view" has a strange area??

And, I created a new project in (14541), binder and "collections view" don't have a strange area.
It was corrected, too.

You can drag the collection split to whatever height you want, even if there are no collections in the view to see. It's like how you can change the width of the binder to be super wide, and end up with blank space to the right of all the names.

Blame Apple for the trend of making split dividers impossible to see and almost as difficult to use. :)
