(Hopefully) Minor request

Hi Matt,

At the moment the you can move forward and backward in the timeline window by clicking and dragging in the date bar below the main timeline window.

Is there any reason why clicking and dragging in the main timeline window itself cannot have the same effect? I constantly find myself trying to drag in the main window.

Hope things are going well as you move towards release.

Hi Simon,
The only reason I haven't done that is because I preferred to separate the actions to move the timeline (by scrolling), and the actions to move events (by click-dragging).

This may be because I am a trackpad user, and so two-finger scrolling and pinch zooming come very naturally to me.

I can add click-dragging to move the timeline. My only concern is whether it will be frustrating to be trying to click on an event and missing slightly, and then having the timeline drag underneath you instead.

I have some memory of finding an annoying quirk like that in Google Earth, where it didn't do what I expected, and I fell in the same hole time and time again.

I would like to respectfully but emphatically object to Simon's idea of click-dragging to move the timeline, for the very reasons explained by Matt.

Simon, did you know that you can navigate the timeline very conveniently using Shift + scroll wheel? And that you can zoom using Cmd + scroll wheel?

IM(not so H)O, that's even more convenient than click + dragging would be, since you're not limited by the confines of the screen to navigate to an event outside the current window.

Kind regards,

Joachim
