Anyone know if there's a way to search by formatting in Scrivener like there is in Word? I'm using a lot of italics to indicate thoughts in my current manuscript and it would be great to find all the places those are used.

Yes, there is a format search tool, you will find it in the `Edit/Find/Find by Formatting...` menu command. Once you have that palette open, switch to character format type searching, and set it up to look for only italics. This tool, unlike the normal Cmd-F tool, will jump from one document to the next to find matches.
