I'm a new user of Scrivener and think it's great. Just curious whether there are other academic users out there and how you use it for article and book projects.

I am a PhD student and find it quite helpful for preparing and organizing my research and writing.

Ditto. But I also use Scr. to house other research and notes for areas I am studying beside the dissertation work. And I develop/produce ALL my shorter works, or anything of any length that doesn't require complex footnote/endnoting. LL is right, though, this has been discussed. The search he suggested should glean some interesting results!
