Further to the suggestions that came up recently on this board, it may be useful to know that Spell Catcher is on sale at http://www.maczot.com/ and now to be had for 20$ instead of the regular 40$.

I don't own the product but I'm considering it. Any reasons not to buy this one when one is on the lookout for a system-wide spell catcher and text expanding utility?

There's no reason not to buy Spell Catcher at any price.

It has become an indispensable writer's tool. It supports, elegantly and powerfully, everything I need to do, from spell checking to keyboard shortcuts. Someone could make serious money hard-wiring Spell Catcher into operating systems.

I've done some searching on this forum, and there seem to be some problems using Spell Catcher and Scrivener together. Most of the posts I read are more than a year old, so I'm wondering how these two match up in current versions...?

I've been eyeing this for a while so I went ahead and bought it.

My only complaint is that I wish I had known beforehand that Canadian English is an extra $10 to install! Ah well. Thanks for the notification about the deal.

I'm trying out Spell Catcher. It works everywhere but Scrivener. The menubar dropdown doesn't have any options when I'm in Scriv. Is there something I can do about it?

Do you mean the menu that drops down from the Spell Catcher "yellow-tick" icon in the menu bar at the top of the screen? If so, have you tried closing and then re-opening Scrivener? Worked for me when I had the same problem.

'Listen, some quiet night, when you've shirked your work that day. Do you hear
that distant, almost inaudible clicking sound? That's one of your
competitors, working away in the night in
Paris or London or Erie, PA.'

Oh yes! I forgot, closing and reopening always sorts everything out, like kicking machines. Thank you, Hugh.
