Hey, guys--

I'm looking for a Mac app that will let me add color not just to a particular document icon's label, but colorize the icon itself. I have FolderBrander, but as far as I can tell, this app only lets me change a folder's icon. I want to colorize the .scriv, .doc, & .rtf icons for the individual docs within the folder too. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Oh, remembering the many hours spent playing in ResEdit... :)

Here's a page that covers a lot of icon creation and edit tools for Mac OS X. Note that some, like Iconographer, are now free, not shareware.

Have fun!

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm not looking to create icons for my documents though--I want to be able to change their background color to correspond with the colorized label you can slap on a file in OS X.

When I had tiger, I downloaded a freeware program that let you do that, but it was on another computer & the app is gone now. I can't recall it's name. Any suggestions? Or if you know of another app that comes with a price tag--list that too. I'm willing to pay for the feature so I can see certain files quicker!

Was it Color Labels, by any chance? Unfortunately that's the only such app I know of, and as you say, it doesn't work with Leopard.

Thanks, Anthony! This wasn't the program I was looking for--but I took a look at it & downloaded the demo & it works just fine with Leopard. All I needed was to colorize the icon though. Muchas Gracias!

Oh! Well, fair enough. He should probably make that clear on the page...
