What albums are you currently listening to?

Post here what albums there currently are in your CD/MP3 player. I'll start. When I'm not listening to these, I'm either listening to Classic Vinyl, Ozzy's Boneyard, Octane, BB King's Bluesville or Howard Stern on Sirius XM.

Alter Bridge - Fortress

My favorite rock album of 2013 so far. These guys are seriously talented musicians and songwriters. There's a lot of complexity in there. If you think good rock music doesn't get made anymore, this album will change your mind. This album has everything. Fantastic, tight live band, also.

1. "Cry of Achilles"
2. "Addicted to Pain"
3. "Bleed It Dry"
4. "Lover"
5. "The Uninvited"
6. "Peace Is Broken"
7. "Calm the Fire"
8. "Waters Rising"
9. "Farther than the Sun"
10. "Cry a River"
11. "All Ends Well"
12. "Fortress"

Joe Bonamassa - The Ballad of John Henry

Great blues by one of the biggest guitar talents of this generation. My favorite album by him for several years now. "Dust Bowl" that came out earlier this year is also really good.

1. "The Ballad of John Henry"
2. "Stop!" (Sam Brown)
3. "Last Kiss" Bonamassa
4. "Jockey Full of Bourbon" (Tom Waits)
5. "Story of a Quarryman"
6. "Lonesome Road Blues"
7. "Happier Times"
8. "Feelin' Good" (Cy Grant)
9. "Funkier Than a Mosquito's Tweeter" (Ike & Tina Turner)
10. "The Great Flood"
11. "From the Valley"
12. "As the Crow Flies" (Tony Joe White)

Halestorm - Reanimate 2.0

A bunch of covers of classic rock songs by a bad-ass band with their own unique sound. One of the coolest bands to see live today.

1. Dissident Aggressor (Judas Priest)
2. Get Lucky (Daft Punk)
3. Shoot To Thrill (AC/DC)
4. Hell Is For Children (Pat Benetar)
5. Gold Dust Woman (Fleetwood Mac)
6. 1996 (Marilyn Manson)

When I'm writing, it's emotion-heavy, selected by need: film music mostly, Zimmer or Zimmer-esque. But sometimes Queen, especially late Queen, (emotion again), Prokofiev, Puccini, R. Carlos Nakai, Jeremy Taylor, and Mountain. When I'm not writing, the diet is more varied.

There's a great blog hosted by Roz Morris about soundtracks for writing: http://nailyournovel.wordpress.com/cate ... oundtrack/

I like my Jameson neat, I never mix it... just like listening to music and writing. I absorb the genius behind the music... then re-channel that genius into my writing. Shoulders of giants etc.

I listen to music when I'm driving or when I'm doing stuff. During my writing, I need silence.

What am I listening to?

Some Robyn Hitchcock, especially "Ole! Tarantula" and "Jewels for Sophia".
R.E.M. (my absolutely favourite band) is never far from the top of the Recently Played list. Any of the albums will do (except "Around The Sun" and "Collapse Into Now" which, let's face it, suck).
I've recently been re-listening to 2001's "classic" album "Heliotherapy" by The Sunflowers, and
the "Best of Frank Sinatra" is still making a regular appearance following a bit of a Sinatra binge in the run-up to NiaD2013. With Christmas around the corner, Frank's "The Christmas Album" is becoming more common.

Plus, whenever I need an energy boost, I listen to Nom's Theme.

Normally have something by the Grateful Dead playing.
I know that shows my age but have always wanted to write. Until I retired a few years ago could never find the time. Now can't get away from the keyboard.

Failing that I have some late 60's or early 70's songs in the mix.

Ha harghh!
Now I am listening to:
"A Lapdance Is So Much Better When The Stripper Is Crying" - Bloodhound Gang off the "Hooray For Boobies" Album. Which many may know for the hit single "The Bad Touch" (You and me baby ain't nothin' but mammals - So let's do it like they do on the Discovery Channel)

Here are the lyrics so you can sing along vic-k!

WARNING THIS MAY BE OFFENSIVE TO MANY

"A Lap Dance Is So Much Better When the Stripper is Crying"

I was lonelier than Kunta Kinte at a Merle Haggard concert
That night I strolled on into Uncle Limpy's Hump Palace lookin' for love.
It had been a while.
In fact, three hundred and sixty-five had come and went
since that midnight run haulin' hog to Shakey Town on I-10.
I had picked up this hitchhiker that was sweatin' gallons
through a pair of Daisy Duke cut-offs and one of those Fruit Of The Loom tank-tops.
Well, that night I lost myself to ruby red lips,
milky white skin and baby blue eyes.
Name was Russell.

Yes, a lap dance is so much better when the stripper is cryin'
Yes, a lap dance is so much better when the stripper is cryin'
Well I find it's quite a thrill
When she grinds me against her will
Yes a lap dance is so much better when the stripper is cryin'

Well, faster than you can say, "shallow grave",
this pretty little thing come up to me and starts kneadin' my balls
like hard-boiled eggs in a tube sock.
Said her name was Bambi and I said, "Well that's a coincidence darlin',
'cause I was just thinkin' about skinnin' you like a deer."
Well she smiled, had about as much teeth as a Jack-O-Lantern,
and I went on to tell her how I would wear her face like a mask
as I do my little kooky dance.
And then she told me to shush.
I guess she could sense my desperation.
'Course, it's hard to hide a hard-on when you're dressed like Minnie Pearl.

Yes, a lap dance is so much better when the stripper is cryin'
Yes, a lap dance is so much better when the stripper is cryin'
Well I find it's quite a thrill
When she grinds me against her will
Yes, a lap dance is so much better when the stripper is cryin'

So, Bambi's goin' on about how she can make all my fantasies come true.
So I says, "Even this one I have where Jesus Christ
is jackhammering Mickey Mouse in the doo-doo hole
with a lawn dart as Garth Brooks gives birth to something
resembling a cheddar cheese log with almonds on Santa Claus's tummy-tum?"
Well, ten beers, twenty minutes and thirty dollars later
I'm parkin' the beef bus in tuna town if you know what I mean.
Got to nail her back at her trailer.
Heh. That rhymes.
I have to admit it was even more of a turn-on
when I found out she was doin' me to buy baby formula.

Yes, a lap dance is so much better when the stripper is cryin'
Yes, a lap dance is so much better when the stripper is cryin'
Well I find it's quite a thrill
When she grinds me against her will
Yes, a lap dance is so much better when the stripper is cryin'

Day or so had passed when I popped the clutch,
gave the tranny a spin and slid on into
The Stinky Pinky Gulp N' Guzzle Big Rig Snooze-A-Stop.
There I was browsin' through the latest issue of "Throb",
when I saw Bambi starin' at me from the back of a milk carton.
Well, my heart just dropped.
So, I decided to do what any good Christian would.
You can not imagine how difficult it is to hold a half gallon of moo juice
and polish the one-eyed gopher when your doin' seventy-five
in an eighteen-wheeler.
I never thought missing children could be so sexy.
Did I say that out loud?

Yes, a lap dance is so much better when the stripper is cryin'
Yes, a lap dance is so much better when the stripper is cryin'
Well I find it's quite a thrill
When she grinds me against her will
Yes, a lap dance is so much better when the stripper is cryin'
