If you're feeling bad about the royalty checks a publisher is paying you, look at those some musicians are getting: ... c-industry

Here's one example:

Last year, David Byrne and Thom Yorke decried the injustices of services like Spotify and Pandora, claiming that they devalued the work of musicians. And they weren’t wrong: Cracker / Camper Van Beethoven frontman David Lowery shared the above pic, which displayed that “Low” was streamed more than 1.1 million times on Pandora. The payment? $16.89.

Sadly, that sounds about right. Even really big name musicians say the only way to make any money in music is to tour. Forget any sort of income from CDs or downloads. It might buy you a pint of beer and a pizza, but that's about it. So I hear.

My smallest royalty cheque was for £0.01.

It was my cut of the royalties for a comedy show broadcast on Swiss cable that I'd contributed a sketch to.
