As I remarked, earlier, an intriguing opening, it does indeed make you wonder what will happen next.

Floss, I've done my bit with nit-picks, why not do the plaudits. I'm sure Killer would love to hear your opinions.

As a professional, you, are your one and only asset. Without integrity you are worthless, but with it, you are priceless.

I,m normally more comfortable with the 'badcop' role, but I suppose it is my turn, fluff

1) I like the in media res -ness of it as previously mentioned
2) Good imagery, esp the desolate desert describing the doggy destiny
3) As an unpredictable feline, I like the, emotion, of it all. Good to read characters that have reactions to things not just factual lists of what people are doing.

Three is definitely my limit of nice things I can say about anyone so I,m back off for a nap
i am happy to give feedback on short passages.

be warned, though. my feedback can be blunt... always well intentioned and aimed at helping you improve, but possibly more honest than you are used to.

as such, i will only chip in if directly invited.

Remember, a novel is not a sprint. A novel is a marathon. Beyond the scene you've posted, how much of the book do you have completed? Because, the general recommendation is to not stop to critique any part of the book until every scene is in the can; so to speak.

I understand where you are coming from. However, personally I can't help myself. I think it's incredibly helpful to get a bit of external feedback early in the process - especially for fledgling writers. It can help enormously to have had some validation that your ideas are of interest to more than just yourself and your neighbour's cat.
