Re: How can I organize the documents in parallel in the arrange-by-label view?

You can't get two cards side by side like that because the horizontal axis in this case shows you the order of the cards within the selection. Only one card (or chunk of text in the overall flow) can be in the 5th position, so with this view you can move one of the cards ahead of it, but then it wil...

Re: Page numbering!

If you enable View ▸ Text Editing ▸ Show Page View then an estimated page count will be provided in the footer bar. It’s worth stressing, as it is in the manual as well, that this is an estimation. It’s not really possible to know what the actual page number of anything is, since compile can so radi...

Re: Writing in columns that correspond in content

Is there another way to format this as I work in scrivener and/or to complile this way? Not as you work, for all of the reasons given above. Scrivener’s text editor is just not designed for that kind of page layout. But you can indeed compile into columns, it’s just not enabled in any of the defaul...

Re: Document Links question

I use inline annotations for any links that are "off the record". I never set links to output as links when I compile anyway (they get stripped away leaving only the visible text behind), so I'll sometimes just attach them to the most relevant piece of text. In your case for example, I wou...

Re: Keyword organising

Before working with the assumption that you definitely want to write all three (and eventually up to eight) novels of this series into one single project, I figured it would be good to suggest an alternative. It is of course fine to combine books that way, but it’s worth noting that there are other ...

Thanks for the report! I've got this, and some other related scenarios I discovered, written up for them to take a look at.

Re: Cannot update to version 3.0.1.0

It should be safe to download the installer and just run it over the existing install folder. We will usually point out in the release notes if it is not safe to do that.

Comparison is addressed within the built-in tutorial in the Help menu, in the short section on snapshots.

And of course the documentation for the Inspector tab itself, where snapshots are viewed, discusses comparison in §13.6.4, pg. 275.

Re: How can I play 2002 on my new Mac OX S comptuer? why does it say "Does not support live script"?

Both “Mac OS X” and “macOS” are branding names, not statements about the underlying technology (save for being available exclusively to Macs). As for what the “X” stands for, it is the roman numeral for 10, which is the version of Mac OS that we have been using since 2001 (Mac OS 9 being the last ve...

Re: Show Bookmarks → Click on Bookmarks → Reveal in Binder / open in Editor instead of Quick Reference Panel

Do you mean bookmarks in the inspector? Because the closest menu command to what you mention is Project ▸ Show Project Bookmarks , but that loads what you click on into the main editor. If you do mean the inspector, then the default can be changed in the Behaviors: Document Links preference pane, un...

Re: How to configure autonumbering to begin with zero rather than one.

The next best solution I can think of is to create a special Section Type for the Fool, and assign it to a layout that has "Chapter 0" typed in as regular text. Then the following chapters using the regular Type get the <$n> placeholder, and thus pick up counting at 1. It's a bit more setu...

Re: Conspicuous Link to Current Release Notes Please !!!

They are linked from the main product page, at the very bottom, near the download/buy buttons, as "Release Notes", in bright red. They are also linked to from the main download page as "Previous Versions", since that is where you can downgrade to the previous version if need be. ...

Re: Windows 3 How do I open existing Scrivner projects?

The user manual has detailed instructions for recovering from a backup, in §5.2.3, Restoring from Backups . It’s really super straight-forward though if you’ve ever used a zip file before to extract the contents of the zip. That said, unless you did some aggressive spring cleaning, all of your old p...

Re: Can You Circle Text in Scrivener 3 for MacOS?

Your best bet would be to use a style for this type of emphasis while writing, and leave the special formatting for after you compile. I presume in Word you could then just modify that style to include the border line and everything would be fixed up in one move.

Re: How to configure autonumbering to begin with zero rather than one.

Although it would typically be used for 1.1, 1.2, 1.2.1 style numbering, if you only use it at the highest level (so no parts), then the <$hn_0> placeholder would do exactly what you want. It only prints the first number at the highest level, so 0, 1, 2, 3.
