Re: Getting the Most out of Scrivener for Chromebooks

In theory, CrossOver will allow you to run your Windows version of Scrivener on Chromebook. However, it's currently badly supported by the developer, and there are no reports of users accessing Scrivener on Chromebook this way. It's theoretically possible though. Errm, I think the OP Harrington jus...

Re: Lost work

The image you are showing says that it is "saving autorecovery". So whatever you are doing you are not just finding an rtf file and opening it in Word or Wordpad. I will try to be clearer. When Scrivener autosaves it saves updates to the actual project folder. I cannot remember where it sa...

Re: Lost work

In Scrivener, there is a big difference between saving and backing up. While Scrivener's default setting does only back up on closing the program, it does (or should) autosave every time you stop writing for a little while. So you should have two sets of files. You should find the saved project wher...

Re: Scrivener 3.0 for Windows - New new goal time date release something

They have given up. That is why there have been no new beta versions since Beta 30 was released last week.

Re: Just about out of patience

I have stayed away from these threads which contain little information and a lot of noise of the "you're horrid", "no I'm not" variety. This time I thought I would make one personal observation. I switched to the beta of Scrivener 3 for Windows on July 15, 2018, when the version ...

Re: .scriv file format unsupported on iOS?

If you only want to upgrade 1 project to use on iOS then you won't have to buy the desktop version. You can download it and use it free as a trial. You can then convert your project to the new file format, put it into Dropbox, and delete the desktop version. This should work and give you a project y...

Re: Scrivener iOS syncing via Dropbox continues to crash the app

Just to add to the evidence. I have an iPad Air2 running iPadOS 13.1 and I have had no problems with Dropbox syncing at all.

So perhaps there is indeed something in the theory that the bug is hardware related, and that that shows according to the age of the hardware...

Re: The red dotted line for misspelled words is barely visible

Thanks Devin: I confess that I at least had not noticed that. I switched just now and the wavy line is perfect, and perfectly visible! Now I will take some time this evening to sit down and go right through the preferences again to see what else I can find that I should have noticed earlier :D Owen

Re: beta 19 - save project location

I could be wrong here, because I always save projects in the same place, but I think that Scrivener remembers where you save a project and then uses that location as the default until you change it. And then remembers the new location as the default until you change it again. If you choose "Sav...

Re: iOS image to Windows

It is most likely a version of the problem Apple introduced with their new file format. See here: https://www.theverge.com/2017/9/19/1633 ... age-format

I have had it with getting photos into Wordpress.

Re: Argument for abandoning Mac and PC development

I have one problem with this argument: it seems to have been proposed from within the Apple ecosystem, where it might make perfect sense. I use iPad Scrivener a lot: almost every day in fact. I do not need a laptop, because I have an iPad and a magic keyboard for when I need it. However, I DO also u...

Re: Is there an easy way in Scrivener to convert a story

You currently have a "short story". This consists of words arranged in paragraphs. It may also include headings which, if it became a "novel", would become the titles of chapters. Scrivener allows you to make a selection and then split the document in two at that point. What was ...

Re: Scrivener 3 for iOS & Scrivener for Windows version questions

I think you are somehow confused. The iPad version of Scrivener has been available for a long time. It has no new version on the way, or at least nothing has been announced about a new version. The iPad app does not cost $44, and therefore the screenshot that you show seems to be referring to the Ma...

Re: Scrivener 3 for Windows launch date?

Vaporware? That is quite simply a very silly thing to assert. I have been using the beta version since sometime last year. I literally use it every day for two web projects. It works perfectly for me. I don’t need complex compiling, and I believe some areas there and elsewhere are still being worked...

Re: Anyone tried CloudMounter? (or similar?)

FWIW I think that you / we do not need to fear that the Dropbox client itself is suddenly going to greatly increase the amount of resources that it uses on your computer. The main new features on offer are "smart sync" which enables you to store some files and folders ONLY on the Dropbox s...
