Re: Can you lock a section to prevent changes?

On the right side, click the Protect Workbook menu. Select the Protect Workbook Structure option. https://omegle.red https://bluestacks.red (Optional) Set a password to allow changes. Under the "Protect workbook for" section, check the Structure option. That's indeed true. ...for Excel.

Re: Synch with external folder

With apologies to AndrewHarvey for hijacking this thread... The main use case I see for the Sync with External Folder 'backup' idea is if Scrivener *suddenly* becomes unusable/non-functioning on your machine(s). In this scenario, zipped backups or any type of backup of the project folder beco...

Re: Synch with external folder

What other program are you using to open the external folder? If the answer is "none", there's no good reason to sync to an external folder. Actually, there's at least one good reason to use Sync with External Folder other than editing with a 3rd party app. See my post here: https://www.l...

Re: Synch with external folder

I'm running into the same problem I had earlier in the Beta3 test with one of my projects converted projects where everytime I open it it reports that it has detected files I need to resynch. I don't know why this is occuring, perhaps there are some v1.9 'artifacts' in the external folder, so v3 co...

Re: Permanent loss of work on freeze crash

I see it's also in Windows version 1.9. Was it in the versions before that? I don't know exactly when it was originally implemented, but it was prior to the iOS version's release. The purpose of Sync with External Folder is to provide a *safe* means to modify your Scrivener docs with other software...

Re: Permanent loss of work on freeze crash

In addition to the above backup advice, one might consider making periodic Compiles of the entire project to pdf or docx or html or some other preferred format conveniently accessible outside of Scrivener itself. Good idea. A great suggestion I received here recently was to use Sync with Ext...

Re: How to reverse the color of highlighted text in Dark Mode

I don't think so, unfortunately. Since I started using the dark modes exclusively a few months ago, I've stopped using highlighting for emphasis and side notes, and instead change the text color. It seems more difficult to make highlighting work across the various dark modes. I guess you could try d...

See the Spelling and Corrections settings available to you under File > Options > Corrections.

I'm thinking you'll want to enable Spelling > 'Correct spelling errors as you type'

Re: Permanent loss of work on freeze crash

Hello again Talentedc, I sincerely hope L&L support helps you recover your lost words. There's been no change to Scrivener's automated backup system--it's the same in v3.0 as in v1.9. When automated zipped backups are properly configured and utilized, there is no reason for anyone to *ever* lose...

Re: Permanent loss of work on freeze crash

Talentedc, Sorry to hear about your crash and the ensuing issues. Try to find the backup that Scrivener created when you first converted the v1.9 project to v3.0. It would be a folder with the name of your project, with 'Backup' appended. So MyProject.scriv would become MyProject Backup.scriv. Scriv...

Re: Zoom on Copyholder?

It turns out that it depends on how you open the copyholder window. If you do a "right-hand click" on file, open as copyholder, then the zoom option seems work. However, if you do the "Alt+Click+Drag" method, which developers of Scirvener 3 told me to use in a different post, th...

Re: Windows 2.9.9.9 HiDPI - Spelling Check Squiggly Hard to See

I'm using the now-released Windows 3 Scrivener, and would really like to use a dark theme like Mellow Yellow. But the spelling underlining is almost impossible to see, despite following the advice on Waves, 1080p resolution, and Coloring Textual Marks, and after meddling for an hour with Windows Co...

Re: Splitting the screen left and right AND in the middle

ETA: When you right-click on a Copyholder header bar, your placement choices depend on whether you are using single or split editor panes.. Placement choices are left, right, top, bottom when used with a single editor panel. Left, right when used with horizontally split editor panels. Top, bottom wh...

Bug: Copyholder doesn't remember Zoom level or position between sessions

Using Windows Scrivener v3.0, a Copyholder doesn't remember Zoom level or position between sessions. To replicate: Open a fresh copy of the Tutorial project. In the Binder, select document Splitting the Editor. In the Binder, alt-drag & drop document Editor View Modes to the Header Bar. Copyhold...

Re: Splitting the screen left and right AND in the middle

Yes, this could be done using split editor panels and Copyholders. When you right-click on a Copyholder header bar, you can choose how to place it (left, right, top, bottom). See the interactive Tutorial (Help > Interactive Tutorial) sections below for details. For splitting the editor: Draft > The ...
