Font Size in comments

I did something I don't understand (a kind of 2 fingers when there should have been one thing), and the font in my comments column became huge (see attached). I can use 'Command -' several times on each comment, but I really want the the font size to 10 or 12. So far, no luck in manual. Help!

Exit full screen

I have installed El Capitan (given this is a family site, I'll leave out the ##$!!, @$$!, and %%$$@ descriptors). Among other irritations, Scrivener now defaults to full screen mode. When I'm in the normal writing mode, I can go to the dock at the bottom of the page, which makes a leisurely appearan...

Re: Straight quotes in Times New Roman

Further to this query: I'm pretty certain the issue is El Capitan. I went to a scene I had written prior to "upgrading" to El Capitan and added the highlighted sentence. Scrivener thinks I'm in Times New Roman, but the sentence came out with straight quotes ... even though the earlier text...

Straight quotes in Times New Roman

I started a new project recently. I'm noticing that, although my standard typeface is the serifed Times New Roman, my quote marks are coming out typewriter-style (see sample attached). I am using version 2.7 on a mac that I have just updated to the extraordinarily annoying El Capitan. (Resist the si...

Those @##$ quote marks.

You will see in the sample attached that I'm using Times New Roman, a serif typeface with (usually) curly quotes. In the passage, for example, the line, "Always the skeptic, eh?" comes out with curly quotes. Below "Tell me about the interviews." has straight quotes. It compiles t...

Re: Compile not giving section numbers

Fuhgeddaboutit. The desired formatting seems to work today. Apparently the little green men that inhabit Apple software decided to give me a break. I just posted on the El Capitan thread ... I had just upgraded when I tried the formatting that failed. Perhaps it takes my computer a while to digest a...

Re: El Capitan 10.11.2 incompatibility

I upgraded to El Capitan, then tried a relatively straightforward compile format adjustment. Yesterday, it didn't work. THis morning, I got the result I expected. I had restarted after the El Capitan update, then tried the format I mentioned above without success. I restarted this AM, and everything...

Compile not giving section numbers

I want my editor to be able to refer to section numbers in my novel. For me a folder is a chapter and a text page is a scene (example "Compile" attached). I have set up compile to include <$n> for chapters and <$sn> for text using Section Layout for the folder (chapter) and level 1+ text i...

YES. Thanks much. Unchecking "In Script Mode Only" was what I was overlooking.

Re: Outline breaking lines

Sorry for the delay. I thought I'd sent a message w/file a couple of days ago, but this forum won't take a csv attachment and I didn't notice that the reply didn't post. Problem is probably some punctuation issue or a paragraph return. I'll review and fix if I can.

Outline breaking lines

One of the many fine tools Scrivener offers is the option to export an outline. For reasons I can't seem to figure out, the export often breaks a line of the outline and creates two excel rows. I have about 250 rows in my outline, and it happens 7 or 8 times in an export, always, it seems, after Lab...

Apostrophe curly and straight

I am drafting in Times New Roman. I notice that I'm getting the curly apostrophe sometimes (green in the text below ... it'll come up straight in this post) and the straight apostrophe sometimes (red). It's possibly an artifact of moving text back and forth ... or is there some rule I'm ignoring in ...

SIngle-quote and contractions

As the helpful posting (below) notes, the Apple OS interprets a single-quote/apostrophe after a space and before a letter as an open-quote. Is there any way to mass convert/mass preserve formatting (as in Formatting/Preserve Formatting)? If not, is there any way to add such a function, given the App...
