Best path to CreateSpace

Scrivener allows a great deal of interior design ... alternate page headers, special pagination, and so on. Create Space has a template for formatting. Is it better to format as much as possible in Scrivener or to compile a straightforward .doc file and use CreateSpace template?

Compiling

Trying to set up a custom compile for a novel. I have added an 'unassigned' section type because several pages of front matter and back matter need to come into the compile unchanged. When I try to assign that type, Scriv compile tells me I have only sections and chapters. see 2 attachments. I need ...

Re: Activate auto-Complete

Thanks for your help. One box re scripts ticked in the general preferences, under the tab "auto-correction", which has nothing to do with word completion. Too bad L&L fell on its face with Scriv3. I had read the manual portion you quoted but finally figured the problem out from your no...

Activate auto-Complete

The update guide says "In the “Project” menu, “Meta-Data Settings”, “Auto-Complete List”, “Text Preferences” and “Set Selection as Templates Folder”/“Clear Templates Folder” were all separate commands in Scrivener 2. In Scrivener 3, all of these options are now set in a single Project Settings ...

Re: Outlining in Scrivener 3

Thank you, Silver. I did look at the both the tutorial to the extent I could. Perhaps the start-stop jerkiness has moderated in the last week. The 'what's new' is too cursory to be helpful. I need to get beyond my irritation at functionality lost, invest the time, climb the learning curve. Thanks fo...

Outlining in Scrivener 3

Scriv 3 compile is driving me crazy. If this request is better sent to Scrivener tech support, say so. I've attached 3 documents. First, a partial outline of a novel as it appears in Scrivener (Outline tab). The second attachment is what the compile instruction to get me an outline with synopsis loo...

remove extra spaces on compile

Scriv2 Compile had a function (in Transformations?) that took out multiple spaces between words. In Scriv3, after considerable head-scratching, I found that one can 'edit' a compile format, which shows some of the former compile functions. There is no space removal option I can see. What am I missing?

Re: Show synopsis and custom metadata on right side of screen

Thanks. Another subtraction from Scriv2. Has L&L said how long they will maintain Scriv2 and whether it's possible to un-upgrade?

Show synopsis and custom metadata on right side of screen

In Scriv 2, the right-hand panel had the option of showing the synopsis in the upper right, then metadata and custom metadata below it. This appears to have disappeared in Scriv 3. I would rather not have to toggle between two views. Is there a way to get back to the Scriv 2 format?

Scrivener 3

Scrivener 2 was a powerful but complex word processor. Then it occurred to someone at headquarters that it would be a good idea to make fundamental changes. After I get through the long learning curve, possibly after listening to the stutter-step tutorials, I may get to like it. Shame on me for conv...

Re: Compile to outline with metadata

Yes, Thanks. You remembered the V2 terms. I have done that. So far, it doesn't work for me. I've added : <$custom: POV> POV to show my metadata for the POV of the section. Outline works fine, but the POV doesn't appear, although the section format shows that it will. Not the end of the world, but it...

Brookter,
Are you using Scrivener 3? Your example shows formatting options I don't see on my version 2

Re: Compile to outline with metadata

Thanks so much, Brookter and SarsenLintel, for thoughtful replies. I'll try the several suggestions and, I'm sure, end up with a workable solution.
