Re: Searching scrivenings

That is indeed a bug. There are a few issues that remain to be fixed, with how regular document find (Ctrl+F) works in Scrivenings mode (such as not finding text in titles, when titles are included).

Re: Is there a formalism for bracketing text that is not to be printed?

Inline annotations can each have their colour changed individually. Some prefer to use this as a way of colour-coding different types of comments (I use light grey for deleted text, bright red for important notes I absolutely do not want to scroll past without seeing, etc.). As with the text highlig...

Re: The best feature ever would be opening...

I've always considered this to be in the domain of the window manager. That is how it is on all other major operating systems at any rate, and I've heard that Microsoft has been considering adding it to Windows. We had requests for this from Mac users for years, until Apple finally made tabbed windo...

Thanks for the reports! The auto-updater has been fixed, so this should no longer be an issue for those downloading the update going forward.

Re: Scrivener 3 for Windows: How to include document synopsis and notes in compile?

A good format to start from is "Outline Document", which comes with some layouts that already include the title + synopsis, and while notes are not included in any of them by default, they are formatted in the background so all you would have to do is check the box on the "Title and S...

Re: user manual is more like an example of storytelling than a concise form of information conveyance.

That copy is a bit old, I'll be updating it with all of the Windows edits in a bit. I ran into a problem with how lists were formatted (you'll probably see what I mean in that older version), so I'm having to switch them over to Markdown. There are a lot of lists though, so it's been a process.

Re: Version 3: 'Reveal in Binder'

In most cases where you can double-click on something that action is already in use for some other purpose, so it wouldn't be a reliable approach. In fact the only thing I can think of that doesn't have a double-click action is in the binder.

Re: user manual is more like an example of storytelling than a concise form of information conveyance.

That’s fair! The amount of discussion about what has changed, and why, is something that I have been gradually editing out, as I do agree with that point of criticism. I think it is more effective to just describe how things work, and only refer to changes if they are significant. It’s interesting y...

Re: Help - Need to Know Where Metadata List Values Are Stored

All of the metadata information, and assignments, are stored in the .scrivx file itself, that you double-click on to load the project. This is a fairly simple XML file that describes the binder layout as well as some settings. You'll find the metadata descriptions toward the bottom of this file, alo...

Re: [SUGGESTION] Window size and layout settings are saved to the project instead of per machine user settings.

Yes, I was talking about the window size as well, as that is how you framed your request. The application should remember the size and maximized state for each machine, not for the project. Again though, this is not a matter of “should” or “should not”. That is your opinion, and it is my opinion tha...

Re: Trouble with <$rst_figure> (It's not working for me)

Yes, that is how you would refer to a figure by its specific handle. Just in case it wasn't clear, since there seems to be some confusion: I was isolating the nature of the bug so that the developers could look at it. Obviously if you need anchor names you need anchor names, and not using named coun...

Re: [SUGGESTION] Window size and layout settings are saved to the project instead of per machine user settings.

Exactly, and there would be group of people who would be annoyed at having to update the window appearance every single time they switched machines (I would be among them). This isn’t really one of those situations where there is a perfect, or even ideal, answer that works for everyone, so we just h...

Re: Trouble with <$rst_figure> (It's not working for me)

It looks like the bug is with named streams that include an instance name as well. If I use <$n:fig> then the value resets as expected, but <$n:fig:figurename> will not reset.

This simple test project demonstrates the difference in behaviour.
