Re: Page Breaks

If you want to see a rough representation of a page as you type, you can use View > Text Editing > Show Page View , but note that this won't necessarily reflect the final layout when you compile the document (because compilation can use many different page sizes, fonts etc). As Lunk says, the best w...

Re: Insert a custom image in the Custom Section Separator field in Compile

[Contd] So, we have produced a basic Ebook, with blank lines between the scenes (I made a couple of choices about the layouts for Heading and Sub-heading for the Day and Chapter, but that's irrelevant for our purpose — you'll make you own.) Screenshot 2021-03-17 at 08.36.26.png Now we're happy with ...

Re: Insert a custom image in the Custom Section Separator field in Compile

I'm glad it's helping! The idea that you should break your project into 'chunks' in the binder (e.g scenes rather than chapters etc) is one which unlocks a lot of Scrivener's most helpful features, as you can then manipulate and analyse them more easily. The only reason that I can think of that the ...

Re: Insert a custom image in the Custom Section Separator field in Compile

OK, our messages crossed... :D:. The basic process is for Scrivener 'knowing' what you want it: 1. You make sure that every compilable element in the Binder has a Section Type. By default this goes on hierarchy, as in V2, so folders have one section type (say Heading) and their subdocument have anot...

Re: Insert a custom image in the Custom Section Separator field in Compile

Theresa, I've just tested this by importing an image called Die into the Research folder, then adding <$img:Die> to the Custom Separator field, making sure that: 1. The section layouts are allocated to the appropriate section types. (Here the Section Type Section is allocated to the Section Type Tex...

Re: Insert a custom image in the Custom Section Separator field in Compile

Sorry, I thought you were asking about Unicode characters, so I was just showing you the method you'd use to insert them as an alternative to custom images...

I hope you find what you need.

Re: Insert a custom image in the Custom Section Separator field in Compile

You add a custom image in the Custom Separator field, as you suspected, but I think you have to add a link to the image, rather than paste in the image itself. Image links are covered at Section 15.7.5 of the Manual. However, you ought to be able to copy 'text' images into the custom separator field...

Re: How can I customize my corkboard?

I don't think you can on the current version of Windows Scrivener, but in Version 3, which is in late Beta (and on the Mac), you can have 'Freeform Corkboards' where you can place the cards within a folder anywhere you like (and if you want, commit that new order back to the binder). Screenshot 2021...

Re: Preserve italics markdown-style when syncing to plain text

It didn't sound dissatisfied at all — I was just intrigued why you'd need blank lines in a novel (apart from scenes). It occurred to me that for very occasional use <br/> seems to be as good a way as any as it's supposed to work everywhere and you're not having to think about the editor you're in...

Re: Preserve italics markdown-style when syncing to plain text

I'm glad (most of it) helps! As for the blank line issue: I suppose you could use the standard html <br/>, which is passed through by default to markdown, so it should be interpreted correctly by both the external editor and Scrivener's compiler (not tested...) But can I ask why you want blank lines...

Re: Backtick bug

Yes, backticks are the marker (many flavours of) markdown use for code font. Normally you can 'escape' them, by putting a backslash in front (i.e. \` will produce a standard backtick, not trigger a change in font). If you're only using backticks literally in the text, could you test \` to see whethe...

Re: Preserve italics markdown-style when syncing to plain text

Thats really helpful! I've been using External Sync for years and never noticed that Fountain preserves bold and italic! I'm not a developer, but I think I may be able to help with your first point — that synced text is turned into Courier. Try this: 1. Format > Scriptwriting > Script Settings . It ...

Re: New writing font for monospace lovers...

Thanks nontroppo - that is one very committed typewriter devotee...

BTW, I don't know when it changed (seems fairly recent) but it seems that 'brew cask' no longer works, as I found out when I tried to install these fonts. You have to use

Code: Select all

brew install --cask font-tt2020

instead.

Cheers!

Re: How many computers

It's basically a household licence: When you purchase a licence for Scrivener, you automatically receive what we call a "household" licence for the platform you selected. What we mean by this is as follows: * You can install and run Scrivener on any machines you own and of which you are th...
