Re: Snowflake method?

Does the software add anything that you can't do fairly simply in Scrivener itself? Some time ago, I used the publicly available notes on the method to create a template - very simple, basically a separate research folder for each of the steps with associated folders for character, locations etc. Th...

Re: Question for DevonThink aficionados...

Sorry - should point out, I'm using the DevonTHINK Pro 2 beta 7, in case that makes a difference... I think it works in the other versions, but I don't have access to them, so I don't know...

Re: Question for DevonThink aficionados...

I couldn't find a way to add files to the favourites list in the sidebar, but this is a workaround - it'll take a couple of minutes to set up, but once you've done that it should be very quick to use. It relies on setting a certain label for your 'favourite' files - then using a SMART GROUP to colla...

Re: Books you haven't read but feel you should

I, on the other hand... ... first read LOTR in 1969 at the age of 11 and have read it several times since. I have read a fair amount of other fantasy and enjoyed it, but nothing has ever come close to the shock of that first introduction to new worlds, to the combination expanded imagination, love o...

Re: Inseting foreign characters with a keyboard shortcut

Have you tried Ctrl-F2? If you use Alt-letter for menus, you lose all the easy access to rarer characters from the keyboard. I loathed all the problems with creating/finding accented and other rarer characters under windows, some applications having their own systems, with others having to use Alt-...

Re: Inseting foreign characters with a keyboard shortcut

by Jaysen on Mon Mar 23, 2009 7:28 pm You do that just for me don't you? Take your 72 button USB mouse and shove it … into the usb port. Should work just fine. OSX found all 5 buttons on my logitech which has not been replaced with a wireless mighty (that side scroll is really nice) which has 3 but...

Re: Inseting foreign characters with a keyboard shortcut

I'm not sure if this will be of use to anyone, but just in case... I've started to use Scrivener (and a brilliant little vocabulary program called Keep Your Word) to learn Ancient Greek and I have to switch between keyboard layouts almost every word or so for vocabulary, necessary because at this st...

Re: Mac OED due out soon

New poster, but long-time if sporadic (and apparently recursive) lurker, so I understand enough not to mess with the hive mind.

No, I'm not from Portland. I've heard of the cement, though, if that helps?

Regards

Re: Mac OED due out soon

Er, thank you. I think... My wife calls it "faffing about on that bloody computer when the lawn needs washing and the clothes need mowing[1]" - wait till I tell her I was really creating indirect, recursive, infinite loops. She'll be so impressed.. Regards David [1] I may have got this wro...

Re: Mac OED due out soon

Not seen it mentioned so far, but it's possible to get access to the online OED through being a member of your local library - in Cheshire at least... I simply have to log on to the library webpage and follow the link - password is my library card number. There is a wide range of other reference wor...
