Re: Compile for ePub

I'd be willing to take a look, or send you my compile format. The only issue is I style everything, bc I want narrative passages to have a 1st-line indent and dialogue to have all lines indented, plus I want 7 pts after each paragraph. But it works just fine. My only problem with mobi is that Kindle...

Re: How do I use Scrivener 3 with two authors

Dev is correct. My co-writer and I have developed a method using DropBox that works pretty well. But it's still tricky. We have a master Scriv file in a DB shared folder. To edit/write/revise we copy it inside that folder, and immediately drag the copy to a local folder. Once revised locally, we tex...

Re: Beta 38 - Composition Mode Screen is dark and unusable

Oh, thanks so much for your answer. That solves everything.

In case it slipped by you, the thread already exists here. I was not the original poster. I can only reply to this thread, here.

Have I hijacked the thread? Doesn't appear so.

Have I possibly broadened a topic? Cuff me.

Re: What font do you use?

This is not an obstacle. This is a botched diagnosis. I cannot control how readers interpret what I write. *No writer can.* They can pick up zero of the nuance I put in, or all of them plus more I never intended to. Every person's experience is different. Communication is not a strict one-way flow ...

Be that as it may, you have answered my question, which is 'can you lock just one of the splits?'.

Re: typing lag

Or, maybe a program is eating the CPU or the memory. I found my mail program using 7 GB the other day (hadn't rebooted in a couple weeks). I quit and restarted just the mail program, problem solved. So, apparently, they typing lag was the computer attempting to compensate by doing lots of file swaps...

Re: Is Scrivener NICER on Mac?

Define 'Nicer'. It's been my experience that nearly everything is 'nicer' on a Mac. Either in tiny ways, or significant ones. Sometimes both. And I've had computers all the way back to the Commodore 64, and the original 128K Macintosh, and a work environment completely dominated by PCs, so I am spea...

Re: Which is better with Scrivener: MacBook Air or 27-inch iMac?

That appears to be a matter of personal preferences. I do happen to have a 27" iMac but prefer writing on my 12" MacBook. It gives me more flexibility to write in places where I don't normally sit (and may unconsciously associate with "work"). Running Scrivener in full screen mo...

Re: What font do you use?

One of the most wonderful things about Scrivener is that it is not WYSIWYG! So there's a clear distinction between writing font (what I see in the editor) and reading font (what my readers see. Yes. It's a clear distinction between what the author and reader see. No offense, but that makes zero sen...

A possible way to make Project Search a bit easier

My only real issue with Project Search is the scrolling. IOW, once I have a list of docs (where the Binder typically appears) I can click on each of them, but the doc then displayed in the binder goes wherever the editing text line last was. That is honestly less than helpful. I do not want to go wh...

Well, my wishful thinking would hope that to be true. Apparently with a Kindle, it isn't.

Spell Checking disconnect

This may be due to relying on Apple code. I've noticed that if I ask spell check to ignore a word, such as a colloquial misspelling in someone's dialogue, it seems to work fine (the little red underline goes away). But if I then view the same doc in Composition Mode, the red line comes back, and I h...

Re: Disabling Snapshots Entirely

I do have to wonder if what you’re reporting is really a problem with snapshots though. While in theory I suppose one could triple the size of their project in two days, if they were doing widespread edits that impacted almost everything in the project—it’s the scale that has me wondering what is g...

Re: Scrivener 3 & Audio Files

I'm pretty sure Kindle will strip audio. As for epub, I know it is possible, at least in iBooks/Books, meaning if the file is there, it will play (probably need a 'play' button) because you can do this quite easily in iBooks Author (Scrivener is light years better, so don't bother). I've verified th...
