Re: POV markers

Sounds to me, Guido, like you want something more like SuperNotecard (which is available for both Mac and Windows). That has a seperate tension "thermometer" as well as at least three different sets of coloured labels/flags. I've used it in the past for outlining a new project, but overall...

A more specific wordcount target icon?

Hi Keith I've been using Scrivener for my fiction for a couple of years now (looking forward to version 2!) but recently I've switched to a Mac at work (yay!) and started using Scrivener for editing articles for our newsletter, specifically because the word count display and targets are so handy. An...

Re: A project export option for iPod ?

Perhaps someone could come up with an iPod application that'd let friends or business colleagues subscribe to one another's epub texts via a common server. We might call these longer texts for just for friends 'toots' rather than tweets. --Mike Perry, Inkling Books, Seattle I think what you're talk...

Re: Aeon Timeline Version 0.1 (Beta)

Hi Matt I downloaded and installed Aeon Timeline at the weekend when I was having trouble with my novel's alternate history, and it's been a great help already! I haven't had any crashes yet, and I'm running it on Tiger (with the latest OSX updates). I'll post more feedback when I have time - I'm tr...

Re: Taking stock

I don't have everything currently installed on my MacBook, as I reinstalled Tiger from scratch a while back. However when it comes to software for my writing I have licences for (in no particular order): * Scrivener * Mellel * Copywrite * SuperNotepad * Dramatica Pro * Pages (only installed because ...

Re: Scrivener on a netbook

And you're completely entitled to it, mate! But one's man's netbook is another's ultraportable; I am two metres tall and have bigger hands than most, the EEEPC family looks absurd when I use it. And one man's ultraportable is another woman's normal-sized laptop :D I'm 5'2", so theoretically my...

Ah, I know the Arundel - we once had a work Christmas lunch there. Nice views over Jesus Green :)

Bon voyage, and I hope the jetlag isn't too severe!

Where are you in Cambridge? Or is that top secret? :)

Good luck with NaNoWriMo - I'm giving it a miss this year, as me and Scriv are going to be way busy revising my NaNo '06 mess...

Re: On Scrivener, Storymill and the value of Timelines

Just found this thread, and I'm really liking the idea of the app, since I write historical fantasy - any news on the beta? I'm running Tiger (on a MacBook) and would be happy to join in the beta test...

Re: Importing an outline into Scrivener

That's brilliant, Keith! You're a real star! :D :D :D Titles and text only is fine - I can appreciate that labels, categories, etc would be near impossible to import correctly, since there's no obvious mapping (e.g. I use coloured backgrounds for PoV in SNC, but the "label" field in Scrive...

Importing an outline into Scrivener

Hi all I've been using Scrivener for a couple of years and absolutely love it, but I also use SuperNotecard for my initial outlining because it runs on Linux (and because I find it slightly more powerful for outlining). I'm therefore trying to work out how I might get an SNC outline into Scrivener w...

Like jplumey, I'm using SuperNotecard - on my Eee 900 under eeebuntu. I asked Mindola nicely and they've made a plain .jar file available on their site, and since the Eee comes with Java (even on the default Xandros install), it's a cinch to get up and running. SNC isn't anywhere near as good as Scr...

Re: word count in outline view

I second the request for Outline View to show total wordcounts and targets for the documents in each folder. I split my novel into one document per scene in order to make it easier to move scenes around within the structure, and then organise the scenes into chapter and act folders, but that makes i...

I guess everyone was too busy writing to post after Nov 2 :)

How did y'all get on? I used an Alphasmart Dana to do my Nano-novel, so I didn't need something as powerful as Scrivener at the time - but now I have to edit the darned thing, Scrivener is starting to look like my saviour!

Thanks for the tips, guys! I guess I just need a bit more time to get used to Scrivener and adapt its features to the way I'm used to working. Right now I'm thinking of using the Status field to show word count targets (1000, 2000, 3000 or whatever - they're only ball-park figures, so I only need a ...
