Re: Index Card (.NDXCRD) files import

Index Card 4 for iPad will export to .scriv; Index Card 3 for iPad and index card for iPhone will not. Even with a so- called .scriv export tho, you're going to need to do some processing. It is saved as a .zip archive, so you'll need to unzip it. It's also an old .scriv format, so your windows or ...

Re: Scrivener iOS synching back to Mac version

Hi, I have a project on my Mac in a dropbox/scrivener folder. In iOS, I have dropbox synching to apps/scrivener. Both devices need to be looking in the same folder, otherwise syncing won't work. The default for many apps (Byword, etc as well as Scrivener) is to use Dropbox/Apps/<name of program> - ...

Re: Stuck with dropbox sync failures

Two options spring to mind: 1. Change the sync folder name back to what it was originally. 2. Try deleting Scrivener, rebooting your iOS device(s) and then reinstalling. Despite the claim that all data is deleted when you delete an app, there could well be a settings file still in RAM somewhere. Dis...

Re: Index Card (.NDXCRD) files import

Thanks. A 'SCRIV' option does appear in Index Card when you select 'Mail Project' but I suppose this is for the desktop version. You have this? I just checked on my iPhone and iPad, thinking there might be a workaround that would involve mailing the .scriv file to yourself and then saving it to Dro...

Re: Index Card (.NDXCRD) files import

I suspect you need to use the desktop version to do the conversion. I can't see any import option within the app, and I just went to an old Indexcard project in Dropbox and tried the "Open in..." menu option, but there was no mention of Scrivener. I can see that this might be a nuisance if...

When "cork" isn't cork

This is a really ultra-trivial niggle, but I was wondering if I'm the only one... I was tapping around the new app and found the "background colours" settings. The default for the corkboard is "cork", which led me to expect a textured background like the Mac version - but instead...

Re: iPad air, mini or pro?

I second Katherine's question - what's your use case? I currently have the new(ish) 12" Macbook plus an iPhone 5S, so for me the "best" iPad is something in-between those two devices. Even an iPad Air weighs nearly as much as my Macbook once you add an external keyboard (790g vs 920g)...

Re: Getting Ready for iOS

I currently use Dropbox for zipped backups of active Scrivener projects. When I go iOS and make myself a neat little Scrivener/Projects folder on Dropbox, and move my active projects to that from their current folder, where, then, do my backups go? Other than the nightly Time Machine to an external...

Re: How Does iOS Handle Sync Conflicts?

Yep, you can take snapshots and make backups in the Mac version, and you can export or send zipped backups of the project in iOS. It's the same project on both devices, but you won't see snapshots in the iOS version as that feature is not supported. All the best, Keith Thanks, Keith! I wasn't expec...

Re: How Does iOS Handle Sync Conflicts?

Since the copy of your project on Dropbox is a normal .scriv file, presumably it has the usual facility for backups and snapshots? I routinely back up my WiP after a major session, just to be on the safe side - and it would seem to me that this is sensible with any multi-device setup. As the recent ...

"Numfar, do the dance of joy!"

Charging my iPad as we speak. And preparing to stalk the Apple website, as I intend to buy an iPhone 7 when it debuts in September.

W00t! ...runs around the room flailing, falls over... I totally missed this news, having dismissed the recent newsletter as just the annual software discount promo and therefore didn't bother to scroll to the bottom. I'm so glad I wandered over here on a whim :D I think it's very nearly four years t...

Re: Scrivener for iOS - When?

I still don’t really get the whole “writing on an iPad” thing when there are 12" MacBooks and 11" MacBook Airs out there that are far more comfortable writing machines, but I’d certainly be happy with an iPhone version for when I’m out and about. I have a shiny new 12" Macbook - but ...

Re: Starting a new project from scratch

I'm loath to criticise anyone else's process - we're all different, and what works for one person might not for another. My process is not unlike yours, except that I don't use Scapple or similar as I've never found mindmapping to be terribly helpful or intuitive - instead I write long "discuss...
