Re: About Scrivener 3

It was an assumption on my part that hardware was the reason for not upgrading past Mavericks. Which leads me to wonder what software is keeping you at Mac OS 10.9, and why they haven't updated their software as well? Ok, I've already listed these but I don't mind doing it again: 1. the expense of ...

Re: Equations/figures list

But still it sometimes suprises me how unintiuitive and hard to do (for now) are some things, which were trivial in Pages or Ms Word. As a professional software developer I have to admit, that modular documents structure and split-to-parts philosophy of Scrivener gets very close to design patterns ...

Re: About Scrivener 3

Microsoft brings many fewer upgrades to Windows (there was no Windows 9, so 10 is the 9th  ) while there have been 21 for Mac and High Sierra will be 22. To be fair, you'd also need to count Service Packs and feature upgrades (like the Windows 10 Creator's Update), which would bring it a lot c...

Re: Got a backup?

Good points. I use Time Machine, Dropbox, and Scrivener zip backups. I could also do a daily clone of the entire system via Carbon Copy Cloner (though I don't) as TM doesn't back up your System. I'm of the opinion you can't have too many backups, but the 3 I use run automatically so I don't need to ...

Re: About Scrivener 3

The complaints on this thread baffle me. When have L&L ever abandoned their user base, or given the impression they ever will? Are people really getting bent out of shape because this company is planning for 10 years down the road? Incredible. Having written two books in Scrivener and many othe...

Re: About Scrivener 3

On the other hand, how many people (a) might buy Scrivener at some point, but (b) haven't yet, and (c) will only do so if it will run on obsolete (pre-2010) hardware? And of those, how many will end up upgrading to Sierra-compatible hardware anyway for other reasons within the next six months or so...

Re: About Scrivener 3

Failing to stay out of the flame war that started, I gotta say that holding onto the past will only keep you from improving. This was felt by those who held onto their floppy disk PCs instead of moving on to CD-Rs (recordable CDs) or moving on from a removable disc and onto USB Drives. Granted, not...

Re: Changing Comments default text

The author, date and time are the default comment only, and are already highlighted so you can start typing your actual comment straight off. I'm not sure why you want the comment to be the actual selected text? That's not what comments are for - it sounds as if you want another function instead. Ca...

Re: About Scrivener 3

Ok, here's an idea for Keith (assuming he is his own one-man marketing department...): Release Scrivener 3 with a name like "Scrivener Plus", or "New Scrivener", or even "Scrivener 64", and charge whatever you were going to charge for it. Make it clear it will ONLY run ...

Re: About Scrivener 3

I suppose, to be fair, it's not the thread itself which offends me, but the fact that Scrivener 2 has endured through so many releases of the Mac OS and now, all of a sudden, we have to have the latest (which is going to cut off any Mac user who hasn't upgraded - and I'm sure you realise from user s...

Re: About Scrivener 3

Reminder that an edit after the fact can remove ill-considered forum comments from the permanent record, until somebody quotes 'em. I've done this to a few of my own on occasion, edited not to improve the wording but to redact the dumbth. We've all been there. Just consider it part of the writing p...

Re: Quick Reference Panels Not Working Properly

One thing from your screenshots - you appear to be in corkboard mode. I don't know if it's just me, but I cannot select a Binder item in Corkboard without the editor switching to normal editor mode, i.e. it leaves Corkboard.

I currently use Dropbox, but only use a Mac running Mavericks. However, I'll be interested to read any other comments as I'm soon getting an iPad with iOS 11.

Re: About Scrivener 3

Mods - could you please move this topic to the Feedback forum? I cannot ever use Scriv3 because I won't upgrade past Mavericks, so it's offensive to me to have to read this kind of post here.

By the way, I'm perfectly happy with Scriv2, so what I don't know I can't miss.

Thank you.
