Re: Got a backup?

adoni05 wrote:Hi everyone. I just started writing my book and not being familiar with Scrivner, accidentally deleted my introduction. I have automatic backups turned on, but all the backups have none of my writing.

Do you have other backups, such as Time Machine ™ where your introduction might be?

Re: Import/export .plist files between projects on Mac

Scrivener preferences are global and are found in your user preferences folder (in Library) - the file is com.literatureandlatte.scrivener2. However, there are also individual project preferences which are found in Scrivener's Project menu, and which will override the global defaults you've set, but...

Re: About Scrivener 3

And I don’t agree that such is incredibly common practice. I have never seen that done myself, which doesn’t mean it isn’t out there, but at least among the software stores I’ve been through in the past few years: they sell what they are developing, not older versions of it that they stopped develo...

Re: Is this a virus?

There is no back n . There is a "Backup.bak.zip" (7 November 2015) and then a series of "bak.zip" (24 September 2017), then "bak1.zip", "bak2.zip", "bak3.zip" and (last) "bak4.zip" (all yesterday). Incidentally, should I keep, nuke or rena...

Re: Change the name of the highlight color

I'd never even realised that my custom colours (which I've added to gradually over the years) even had their own names until I looked in the Format/Highlight menu in Scrivener! However, I then found this in the Scrivener manual: " These are named automatically by the macOS system. You may find ...

Re: About Scrivener 3

Since we have no way to verify a user's operating system, any proposal that involves selling new v2 licenses equates to option #2. I don't know why you can't sell a v2 license to someone who can't use v3? But obviously L&L would want to sell licenses to those who can't use v3 - it makes no comm...

Re: Is this a virus?

Thanks for this excellent suggestion, ScriverTid. I'm sorry to be stupid, but how do I do this? Do I go to the file called, eg, "Writing Course" (used to be "Writing Course.scriv") and change its name in finder, then unzip the backup (which will hopefully be called "Writing...

Can you tell us more about what system you're using?

Which Mac
Which OS
Which version of Scrivener
Any automatic backup software you have running

Re: Is this a virus?

What about your Scrivener zip backups (which are generated each time you close the project, or - via Preferences - at a point decided by you, e.g. each time you do a Save, or at a scheduled time)? You might be able to restore an older version of your Project that's not messed up - but meanwhile firs...

Re: I get gibberish when I compile

Is it COMPLETE gibberish though? I can make out "... gave him a smile in thanks and went back to the front desk ". Surely if complete gibberish was intended it would be lorem ipsum type? This looks more like a substitutionary kind of thing, where the words and number of letters are preserv...

Re: Black background, light text

Sierra and previous versions of the OS do have an invert colours feature which could help you, though it will affect all programs, not just Scrivener. System Preferences > Accessibility > Display > Invert Colors. You may find the Use Grayscale button helps there (as some colours look very strange w...

Re: About Scrivener 3

Excuse me but isn’t this discussion going in two different directions? 1) You wanting to be able to continue to use v 2 as long as you decide to remain on a legacy system. No one questioned this. 2) Hypothetical new v2 customer in a distant future. Why should L&L want that? If you argue for 2, ...

Re: Hyphenation of Hyperlinks

I don't believe Scrivener hyphenates links? Well, it didn't for me when I just tried - it treated the thing as a single word and moved it to the start of a new line. What you are seeing may be an issue with epub and Kindle handling of links. Someone may have a better idea of how to handle that.
