Re: Anything to share about Scrivener 3.0?

I have a *new* prediction for the release of Scrivener 3. I'm going with Monday, November 20.

Anyone care to bet against me? :)

Re: Sort Binder files?

I have tried journaling programs. They are fine. But I'm trying to move everything to one program, as much as possible. Too much, too scattered, too easy to lose things. My ideal is a DAM for writers. I'm a photographer--a DAM is a "Digital Asset Manager"--which keeps track of all your pho...

Re: Sort Binder files?

That's a bummer. Seems it would be very useful to have for journaling use. Much of my own writing starts off as a journal entry gone wild... Of course, you could have an "unsorted" option which would return the sort to the "natural" order as created/chosen by the user. So nothing...

Re: Sort Binder files?

O.K., just found a partial answer. Sort of non-intuitive but basically you just sort in the Outliner or Corkbaord and drag the entries back to the Binder. 11.2.3 Sorting by Columns To sort by columns, click on the column header. The first click will sort ascending, click- ing again will sort descend...

Sort Binder files?

I see how to sort the Binder files in the in the Outline View (i.e. add a "Created Date" column and then sort it) but how do I sort in the regular Binder sidebar? I'm keeping a journal and it would be terribly useful if I could sort it (or if it would automatically sort itself) rather than...

Re: Anything to share about Scrivener 3.0?

So I'm putting my money in our virtual betting pool on Monday, October 23rd at 3 pm Pacific Time. That would seem to be just abut right--far enough ahead of Nov 1st for writers to get ready, and the weekend for the developers to work to proofread one last time.... :) --Darin O.K., I've got an hour ...

Re: Anything to share about Scrivener 3.0?

However, I suspect the release date is obvious, if you think about it. And we are getting closer.... Should we start a betting pool to guess the date? :) --Darin Why is it obvious? What am I missing? :D My guess is the 1st of November, since then it will be exactly 7 years after the release of Scri...

https://i.pinimg.com/originals/12/7e/84/127e84f6f41b2498183e6bd5cc9ac2f6.jpg I'd love to see a release before the start of Nanowrimo, so I can use it as a leverage point to learn Scrivener 3 properly! I just started using Scrivener and I like it a lot, so far. I'm holding off diving deeper, figurin...

Re: Got a backup?

My recent experience with back-ups might be worthwhile to share: In addition to Time Machine backups I use a service called Backblaze. Its ridiculously cheap--I'm primarily an artist who has lots of photo and video files, many terabytes of data and it costs me something like $5 a month. It backs up ...

Re: Clarification of iCloud concerns

This has been a very helpful discussion. Thanks to everyone. Regarding iCloud Drive, it seems to summary is: 1) iCloud is fine as long as you have enough disk space (not a problem for me, I have the 2 TB plan). 2) iCloud is fine as long as you don't quickly shut the computer before it has time to up...

Re: Clarification of iCloud concerns

iCloud *Drive* is a reasonably safe location for Scrivener projects. (Subject to the caveats that apply to any synchronization service.) That's what I'd do. Katherine Oh no, I'm confused again. I'm not entirely sure of the distinction between "syncing" and "iCloud Drive." All my...

Ouch, again. Sounds like Scrivener is inherently unusable on my system. Now what do I do? :(

Re: Clarification of iCloud concerns

Ouch. That hurts. :) Since *every* document on my laptop is auto-synced with iCloud, turning it off the satisfy the requirement for one program is probably not workable. My god, don't tell me I'm forced to go with a subscription-model product--I detest the subscription model concept! Any clues if ve...

Clarification of iCloud concerns

New user here. I've read about the problems of using Scrivener with iCloud but I'm still not clear--many (all?) of the articles are concerned with iPad use. On my Macs I have the Desktop set to be stored in iCloud (and thus available directly on all my machines). Is this a safe way to use Scrivener-...

Re: About Scrivener 3

The developers have several times made it clear they have no plans to go to a subscription model. Which brings up a question--anyone heard how that is going for them, financially? I know Adobe is doing very well with their move to subscription-based pricing (I'm a photographer) but their case may b...
