Re: create hidden text, similar to Microsoft Word

Did you copy the settings that I provided in the same project? That was set up to produce a copy that would work well in Word. It compiles to RTF and inline annotations are printed inline without enclosing markers. Hi Amber, am I correct to assume that the settings are those found in the Preference...

Re: create hidden text, similar to Microsoft Word

Amber, when using the Inline Annotation method, can the annotated portions be hidden in the Full Screen Composition mode? The reason is that I'd like to read the simple-book in an editable mode. _____ Robert, using the Inline Annotation method, I turned off the colors as you described, or rather set...

Re: create hidden text, similar to Microsoft Word

Hi Amber When you say you've "attached" something for me, is that by email to me, or attached to the post on the forum? I didn't receive any attachments. I don't know enough about Scrivener to take what you're written and run with it. I'm searching for baby-step instructions on how to mark...

Re: create hidden text, similar to Microsoft Word

In my simple-book/complex-book paradigm, you have already shown me how to hide/reveal whole paragraphs by treating each paragraph as a section that can be labelled. Now, I just need to know how to hide certain portions within paragraphs. In the example below, the part which follows the slash marks /...

Re: create hidden text, similar to Microsoft Word

Hi Amber After experimentation, I can apply labels to sections, and exclude these during Compilation. However, I'm still not sure on the practical steps needed to exclude parts of paragraphs. In your initial message, from your words "Within the text itself, I also mark out phrases" onwards...

Re: create hidden text, similar to Microsoft Word

Hi Amber Thanks for your awesome post. This labelling feature is what I need. Can you fast-track me by pointing to where in the Scrivener Manual I can go through the basics of what labels are, and how to apply them? I searched through the Manual, but the word label is used throughout the Manual, and...

create hidden text, similar to Microsoft Word

Is there an ability to create Hidden Text, similar to Microsoft Word? I'll explain my aim so that, even if Scrivener does not, you can suggest how I might proceed. Otherwise I'll have to write my book in Microsoft Word. With my forthcoming very-complex book, I aim to create a shortened simplified ve...

Re: A major limitation of Scapple, in real life scenario

Joachim, you're telling me how it is. But I am urging how it could be. Imagine if the Binder and Scapple were integrated. Click a button, you're in the Binder, click a button you're in Scapple. Keith, in other posts, has argued that Scapple, in its present complexity, would not easily map onto the B...

A major limitation of Scapple, in real life scenario

I make this feature-suggestion for Scapple, based on my real-life writing habits. Most of the pieces I write can take several years. For instance, one major article took 7 years. Within the span of years, the shape and structure of the article can vary considerably from draft to final. Now, let's sa...

Re: A plea for Scapple-Scrivener integration: rebut KB's reasons

Hope it's more diplomatic. I think you may not yet have fully differentiated between the first person singular and the first person plural. ps You never know, I might be the Queen of England. I re-iterate. For those people who formulate an outline, then drag and drop into Scrivener, AND NEVER EVER ...

Re: A plea for Scapple-Scrivener integration: rebut KB's reasons

I agree. Who is 'we'? I don't particularly want integration, thanks. Scapple is useful in circumstances outside of Scrivener. Do I really want to have to create a new project just to knock out a quick map? Here's how to think it through, bookter: -- Scrivener, integrated with a Mindmap, is useful f...

A plea for Scapple-Scrivener integration: rebut KB's reasons

After my initial enthusiasm, I am now gravely concerned with Scapple's feature set. A few years ago, I made a suggestion to Keith that Scrivener should add a 4th view: - document view - corkboard - outliner - (suggestion) mind map mode In other words, my suggestion, years ago, would allow back-and-f...

Feature request: draw lines

Suggest being able to draw a line, circle and other basic shapes that are unrelated to the actual notes themselves. e.g. when thinking through a for/against scenario, I might draw a line down the centre of the page, and put for and against arguments on either side of the central line. The line, here...

Re: Scapple Beta - New Users Please Read

Greetings Keith. For most of my most heart-felt feature suggestions, the Scrivener team -- I'm trying not to get personal here :) -- knock them back as unfeasible or not falling within the priorities of the benevolent dictator; and then months or years later, these are implemented in your software. ...
