Re: Problems using Scrivener to author blog posts and the like

Scrivener can both Export and Compile to HTML. If the blogging software can't deal with *that* maybe you need new blogging software.

No it isn't. In fact, people who want conventional mind mapping "trees" are often unhappy with Scapple.

I use Scapple as JimRac described quite often.

Re: Using Cryptomator with Dropbox

Yes, a Scrivener project is actually a folder, with subfolders and potentially hundreds of component files. The entire folder must travel as a unit: Scrivener does not work well with "smart" sync services that store files in the cloud and download them on demand, for example. I haven't tes...

Re: "Windows could not find "Scrivener.exe" - Scriv3

Your work is stored separately from the Scrivener application. The most likely cause of this problem is that your antivirus software has quarantined Scrivener. Please whitelist and try again. Katherine I had the same problem. My antivirus software has quarantined Scrivener 3 because it says it dete...

Re: Scrivener + Zotero + classic footnotes at the end of the page

Scrivener supports both inline and inspector footnotes. Use one stream for the Bibliography, and the other for the informational footnotes. Make sure that your Compile options are set appropriately. ("Gear" tab in the right hand pane of the main Compile screen.) Also make sure that you hav...

Re: Automatic Capitalization

Scrivener -> Preferences -> Corrections.

If you haven't already, I'd recommend taking a look at our upgrade guide for Scrivener 2 users, as Scrivener 3 has some very significant changes. You can find it here:

Re: Is Scrivener worth it?

For some users, Scrivener matches the way they think, and using it is like picking up a tool that was custom made for their hands. (As in fact it was: the developer of Scrivener designed it first and foremost for himself and others who think the way he does.) For other users, it can be like learning...

Re: Scrivener, MS OneDrive and upgraded License file

Running the Scrivener application from a "cloud" location is not supported. It needs to be installed (and registered) on each relevant device. Best practices for using Scrivener with cloud services can be found here: https://scrivener.tenderapp.com/help/kb/cloud-syncing/using-scrivener-wit...

Re: Exclude Folders from Search Option

Assign whatever metadata you want to the Excluded folders (or files).

Define a search based on that metadata, then choose the Invert Results search option.

Re: Backup when closing Scrivener doesn't work

Thanks for your help! I found the solution, but it was a tricky one, and I suppose it's a mistake of Scrivener: Changing the backup location via File->Options doesn't work, I had to change it via Project->Project Settings. The former backup-location field seems to be just "decoration" wit...

Re: I need help (thousands of purple q symbols appear)

These are pilchrows. They indicate paragraph breaks.

Probably you turned "Show Invisibles" on at some point.

Don't worry, they won't show in the output document.
