Re: MacOS Split Screen

It does work: see the attached screen shot (which is Full Screen, not just maximised windows). Scrivener split screen.jpg What I did was go into Spaces Overview mode (ctrl-up), then drag Safari to the right of the existing spaces to create a new full screen space, then finally to drag Scrivener onto...

Re: Managing my list of sections to compile

Rather than include something in the text of the documents to mark the Preamble, wouldn't it be simpler just to create a custom metadata item in Project > Project Settings > Custom metadata? Screenshot 2021-03-05 at 08.49.59.png If you make it a checkbox, then you can simply tick it on or off for sp...

Re: Keyboard shortcut for cycling between project windows

Well, the reason you can't find a menu setting for it in Scrivener is because it's a system wide setting — programs don't need to provide it, so they don't, generally. Scrivener's not alone in that regard - Safari doesn't, Devonthink doesn't, Tinderbox doesn't, and so on. So, you have two choices, I...

Re: Keyboard shortcut for cycling between project windows

This is just the system wide shortcut to switch between the windows of the current program (for the UK and US it's cmd-` (backtick), but I don't know what the German equivalent is, sorry... You can set this in System Preferences. Obviously it will work the same way whichever program you're in, becau...

Re: BUG (or oversight): No default “body” style as in iOS/mac/any other word processor, instead, the default is “No Styl

No. That's not what default formatting does. "no style" is not a style for default formatting. It's not a style at all. When you create a new document, the first paragraph takes on the default format as it stands at that point in time . Changing the default format doesn't change "no ...

Re: BUG (or oversight): No default “body” style as in iOS/mac/any other word processor, instead, the default is “No Styl

@Bob, You're correct to repeat my main point: you don't need a body style for standard paragraphs because that's what the default formatting does. Thank you. Your point that a user *can* if they want create a compilation format which doesn't override the default formatting for every single document ...

Re: BUG (or oversight): No default “body” style as in iOS/mac/any other word processor, instead, the default is “No Styl

Forgive me, but you're misunderstanding how styles in Scrivener work on both the Mac and Windows. (iOS uses a different, older, system of pre-formatted text, not true styles, I think). Of course you can set default formatting for the 'body' paragraph — in fact every single document you write starts ...

Re: What am I missing?

You're very welcome! There's so much in the program that no-one can know everything about it — I've been using it for years and there's still areas I know little about. The QR panel is very versatile, so it's worth a look at what it can do — it more or less gives you access to unlimited editing wind...

Re: Empty, grey space on the right in document view

It sounds like you have 'Fixed Width Editor' on, but 'Centre the editor when using a fixed width' off — if you click the latter on, the editor will be, well, centred. If you don't want any grey space at all, untick Fixed Width Editor. Change in Preferences > Appearance > Main Editor > Options. Scree...

Re: What am I missing?

You can select the bookmark in the inspector of one document, cmd-c to copy (or cmd-x), then switch to another document, click in the Document Bookmarks panel and cmd-v to paste it in. If you're going to be doing it for several links from one document, it may be easier to open that document in a Qui...

Re: Unwanted Capitalization

I've just tested your quotation example, and as far as I can see it's working properly (or at least it's making the correct guess for the majority of cases), depending on the exact punctuation used: “His being in the world,” (p.26) --> comma before " = sentence continues, small 'p'. “His being ...

Re: Setting up Scrivener on multiple accounts on the same PC

The licence seems to be geared to machines on which you are the main user, rather than to individual user accounts. From the FAQ item: https://scrivener.tenderapp.com/help/kb/purchasing-and-installation/can-i-use-my-license-on-more-than-one-computer . When you purchase a licence for Scrivener, you a...
