Re: Editing Scapple document from Scrivener

I think I figured it out. When choosing the curly arrow and then choosing Scapple I got a document called "content.scap". I made a slight change and then went back to Scrivener. Nothing changed until I moved the focus off the document and then came back to the document. Then it was change...

Re: Footnote Numbers Not Superscripted in .docx in 3.2.1

In fact, when I compile to Word, I always end up selecting all and copy/pasting the whole word doc body into a fresh new (docx) document anyway, because the Scrivener-generated ones for some reason do not invoke my Normal template with all my preferred tweaks. Wouldn't Insert/Object/Text From File ...

Re: Editing Scapple document from Scrivener

When you dragged your scapple doc into the binder of your project, Scrivener made a COPY of your doc. And it is the copy Scriv is now storing inside your project that you are now editing. The original doc you made is not involved. So the only real funny business you have going on here is which Scapp...

Re: Formatting the first letter of a new chapter

I have a novel that I'm ready to self-publish. ... ... However, I'm afraid "no drop caps" is kinda a deal-breaker for me. I want the book to look professional. Yeah, I’m afraid I can’t get behind this. I think a case could be made that your use of drop caps will likely end up making your ...

Re: Some chapters are not displayed after compiling the manuscript

Hey, glad you got it sorted!

P.S. ‘Zap Gremlins’ is actually a Scrivener command. I think you will find it under Text Tidying in the Edit menu. It is a good thing to try when you think you might be dealing with some invisible character somewhere.

Re: Some chapters are not displayed after compiling the manuscript

If copying and pasting the text into a fresh doc makes the new doc likewise misbehave, you likely have something embedded in the text of those pages that you don’t know about.* 1) Have you tried using the Zap Gremlins command on the text of one of these docs? 2) What happens if you use Paste and Mat...

Re: Fixing the Tab Key

It sounds like there are no tab stops set for the paragraph format there where you are in your text. So, you could set some tab stops for those paragraphs. gr P.S. Tabbing only does that thing yu are expecting when the paragraph yu are in has some tab stops set. Scrivener’s default paragraph has tab...

Re: Footnote Numbers Not Superscripted in .docx in 3.2.1

Seems to me the obvious workaround is to compile to .doc/.rtf format. If you are writing academic papers, you are not going to lose anything by doing so.* gr * In fact, when I compile to Word, I always end up selecting all and copy/pasting the whole word doc body into a fresh new (docx) document any...

Re: All pages are not coming after another

@ Ogi Karam, Are you just trying to make a page break at the start of some documents? There is more than one way to do this. First, just to be sure: Are you seeing the problem IN Scrivener or in the output of a Compile operation? You should not expect to “see” page breaks in the Scrivener editor. (I...

Re: embedding scapple file in scrivener

Roger, If you have copied your scapple map into a scriv project — so, it appears as an item in the Binder area of your project — there are several ways to open it. Here’s one: Click on the item in the binder. You will see a preview of the map in the Editor pane. Look at the right side of the footer ...

Re: Is there a way to cut and paste a document?

Yup. Sounds like your problem is just that you are addressing yourself to the content in the Editor pane, rather than the doc itself in the Binder. Select the doc in the Binder and use the Duplicate menu command (also cmd-D, I do believe) Or option drag the doc in the binder to another location in t...

Re: Heading to graph databases

@ Arkhaiel, A) If I understand correctly you are imagining adding to the free-form corkboard the ability to make connections between the cards. What you are describing is literally what L&L’s Scapple software does! This means the developer also thought this ability would be useful. But they also...
