Aer.io for Direct Book Sales

Most authors are aware the books sales, both print and digital, are dominated by Amazon. Many also realize that putting all their eggs in one Amazon-sized basket isn't a good idea. It leaves you at its less-than-tender mercy. You need alternative ways to promote and sell your books. If you can make ...

Re: Aeon Timeline 2.0 Public beta out

Ooops, I failed to read that. My bad.

On the other hand, this beta, like most, is probably time-limited. I'll die sometime in January anyway. Those who try and like will have to buy.

There are a lot of online discussions that attempt to probe the problem, which ...

InDesign CC upgrade—December 2015

Adobe's professional layout tool, InDesign, has a steep learning curve but is perhaps the best app in existence for creating great looking print books as well as both reflowable and fixed-layout epubs. It doesn't do Kindle mobi and KF8 formats, but you can send the epub to Amazon and probably get be...

Becoming Visible as a Writer

Visibility is one of the most important issues for any writer. In the past visibility meant getting reviewed in a print media and getting on the shelves of bookstores. Now it means getting seen in digital media. Email lists are one means. Coming in near the top of search engine results is another. ...

BBC ripping off an author?

The latest Debriefer, a podcast about authors and the law, has a report on how the BBC just may have ripped off an author, taking his novel series called "The Corner" and turning it into a TV series also called "The Coroner" with a very similar plot line, characters and locale, a...

Looks cute. Those who follow the link might get a kick out of the video opening. Now that you've gone Old School Reporter, don't forget your green eye shade visor: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000VOEQY6 Also, why not post a full review? I'd never spend that much money on a mere keyboard, but it...

Write to live overseas

If you're happy with your writing lifestyle but unhappy with living on the limited income it brings in, you might consider moving to a country where the living is cheaper. You'd get a U.S. or European income from your books but have perhaps lower Latin American (or wherever) expenses. This article t...

In fact, their user magazine was recently renamed Create. You can find it here: http://create.a...

Scrivener and the iPad Keyboard

With Scrivener for iOS waiting in the wings for its entrance, I thought I might post this description from Apple about new features of the touch keyboard on iPads in iOS 9. Note that these are iPad features. Apple apparently decided my iPhone 5 screen was too tiny for them to work. https://support.a...
