Yeah, I thought of that shortly after posting. It was just a sidenote, more of an ancillary thought. Not every idea is a good one :)

Re: Will spell check find double spaces?

...there are people who still use typewriters? (which is the only reason to have two spaces after a period) I think the implication is that the spell check will pick up on doubled spaces between words where there isn't punctuation that would affect it. So "foo(space)(space)bar" w...

Re: Using mac and windows versions

So what do we do if we don't have access to a Mac to do the conversion of our old 1.x Scrivener projects? The solution that comes to my mind is to find a friend whom you trust who has ScrivMac 2.x, send him the ScrivMac 1.x project, have him convert it to ScrivMac 2.x, and send it back to you. Sub-...

Re: Using mac and windows versions

I think the implication is "I'm still working on it". It hasn't mentioned as being fixed yet in one of Lee's updates, and it's a known outstanding issue. Have you tried the keyword fix? What sort of error is she getting when she opens the file? Is anything happening? More details makes it ...

Re: Double Spacing

Not to be picky, but why was this not one of those 'no-brainer' features put into the Beta? It's Writing 101. Limited time and a large number of other features that people consider to be no-brainers. Many of those are things like "not crashing" and "preserving formatting between sess...

Re: 7th NOV - LEE'S UPDATE (BETA 3 DOWNLOAD)

Regarding Norton: why pay for it, when you can just get Microsoft Security Essentials for free, and its protection is just as horrid as any other?

Re: New feature request: Password protect files

As has been noted, the current focus is on obtaining feature parity between ScrivWin 1.0 and ScrivMac 1.0, and then the focus will be obtaining parity with ScrivMac 2.0. After that point is when the developer is going to focus much more on additional features. As a sidenote, though, Scrivener stores...

Re: Suggestion to ease up things for Lee and the Team

Actually, I think your main problem is single posters who never realize it's already been reported, and don't even check for responses. Yes, I notice this a lot, too. Someone downloads the beta, finds a problem, creates an account, and posts about it, without ever bothering to even read any of the ...

Re: Switching from Mac to Windows

Similar problem to me. I copied the entire project across and tried to open the .scrivx file in Windows. Nothing happens. If it just doesn't open it, this is an issue I've mentioned here before, and there's an e-mail outstanding to Lee about the issue. Analysis from various people on the board was ...

Re: Switching from Mac to Windows

It is worth noting that Scrivener for Mac 1.54 does not use the same file format as Scrivener for Windows 1.0. If you want to share projects between Mac and Windows, do be sure you are using the 2.0 branch of Scrivener for Mac; that is the file format being used by Windows 1.0. The root directory of...

Re: Change Default Save Location?

I think this is a Mac paradigm vs. Windows paradigm discrepancy. I know I've mentioned before that the file-save dialog needs to be more Windows-like than it is, and I believe Lee said something to the effect of "I'll look into it when I have time". So, have patience. Once the nasty bugs a...

Scrivener for Windows can open documents made with Scrivener for Mac version 2.0, which is also currently in beta.

Re: Switching from Mac to Windows

Yes it is. Turn viewing file extensions on, and then rename the file, and add an x on the end. Windows might give you a "this might corrupt your file!" alert, and click "OK", and poof, renamed extension. Sidenote on the "corrupt your file": it will not actually alter an...

Re: Writing in Scrivener

There was such a list at some point, but I can't find it any more. Lee was mentioning having some minor issues with the forum software; I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being a casualty therein. Every topic in the Bug Hunt forum that is known about remarks such in its title. Option frequently ...
