Re: Novel-in-a-Day 2: The Revenge

Idle curiosity: How big a swath of the globe do the participants cover?

Clearly we have Americans (Coast to coast? I'm in a Boston suburb, so that takes care of the east) and Brits, but any Europeans or Asians? How about Aussies?

As a data point: I *did* receive notification of Montree's post, so it's working at least for me.

Sorry, ignore this post: operator malfunction.

I haven't gotten any notifications of new messages, but it could be I wasn't actually subbed to it before.

Re: Novel-in-a-Day 2: The Revenge

Yippee! I somehow spaced on the time zone effect, and now I'm delighted to find that for me the 'day' starts at 7 p.m. Given that my preferred writing time is 9 pm to 2 am, this is splendid news. :)

Oh -- last year there was a thread for people to post in throughout the day, same this year?

Re: "Scrivener for Dummies"

Thanks for the recommendations. :)

Still curious about the other book though, not being very experienced with Scrivener yet.

"Scrivener for Dummies"

Has anyone read this book? Does it offer any good hints/techniques/tips?

I don't want to order it if it contains nothing more than what you can get from the manaul and the interactive thingie.

(Sorry if this is the wrong forum to ask in, but nowhere else seemed more appropriate.)

Re: Novel-in-a-Day 2: The Revenge

Maybe it's just me, but I only check the announcements forum once a month or so. (Bad me.)

Anyway, maybe you could put a link to this topic into some of the other more heavily trafficked forums? There might be others who would be interested in playing if only they knew about it,

Thank you! I was nearly panicking at the idea of not being able to open any of my older projects.

Re: "The file is not a Scrivener program file" 1.2.3

I should have said: my wonderful one-sentence scene files are under /files/docs just as they should be.

BTW, I did NOT uninstall my existing Scrivener program (the 1.0 one) before I installed the new one. Would that cause this?

"The file is not a Scrivener program file" 1.2.3

I just downloaded and installed Scrivener1.2.3 (I'm running W7home.) It seemed to install fine, but I cannot get the program to open existing a project by clicking on the .scrivx file. The error message in full is: "The file is not a Scrivener project file. Please, select a valid Scriven projec...

Way to show a 'collection' against all the docs?

I'm working on an old unfinished book, seeing if Scrivener can help me get it done. I've used keywords to list all the characters in a scene, and I'm using collections to look at each character in turn, checking on physical descriptions but mostly seeing that their manner of speech remains consisten...

Re: Sharing my Name Generator files

I can explain for Windows, if you're using Scrivener for Mac hopefully someone else can peep up. . Thank you! Yes, I'm on Windows, and that was beautifully clear. :) It may sound silly, but coming up with names stops me dead while writing, so this is a great help. It occurs to me, this tool really ...
