Re: How do you accurately reliably measure word count

There will be a difference between Scrivener and Word word counts due to the different algorithms used for counting words.

To see the word count in Scrivener, you need to have the footer bar showing. View -> Layout -> Show Footer View or the keyboard shortcut is Alt + Down.

Re: A zip-like archive file format (NOT COMPRESSED!)

Wouldn't this be a pretty big undertaking on its own since Windows doesn't have this capability? This is more of a Mac convention than Windows and would probably confuse users even more. Lee's focus would probably be better served adding features to catch up with the Mac version than coding a comple...

Re: Default Fonts

The option you need to change is under Tools -> Options -> Editor. Select the text there and then click the A icon. It'll display the Font menu and you can change your font there.

Re: wrong total character count after installing

You might want to check this thread, viewtopic.php?f=32&t=16063, in regards to the total character count column.

The behavior you're seeing is the correct behavior. A metadata column for what you want it to be doing will be coming in the future.

Table Button Doesn't Insert Table

This isn't a bug per say but more of a disconnect in the expectation of use. When you click on the Table button on the Toolbar instead of inserting a table it brings up the Table Properties menu which while nice isn't helpful since you won't have a table inserted at that time. Instead you have to cl...

Re: TotalWordCount

I'm paraphrasing the replies MimeticMouton has left elsewhere but the Total Word Count bar only totals the words in a single document. It doesn't act as a means to total the word count for all documents selected. What you're looking for isn't currently included in the current release but is on the t...

Bumping this because it still applies in version 1.0.2.

Re: NaNo Scrivener code question

I was wondering when last year's NaNo codes are good until?

I already have the full version of Scrivener but want to give my code to a friend so that it doesn't go to waste.

Re: Mac to Windows transfer

Projects on Scrivener for Windows are a collection of files while on Mac they have a method of masking that collection of files as a single file. So you should be seeing a collection of folders and files within those folders when you're moving it over to a Windows computer. It's not an error. It's j...

Re: Open on multiple machines error

You might not be giving Scrivener enough time to remove the in use lock before dragging it to your USB for transfer but that's only a thought on what's going on.

Re: More, and more flexible, Meta-data

Custom data fields are on the timeline for inclusion but it was a Mac 2.0 feature and so didn't make it into the initial Windows release.

Re: footnotes and comments

Currently the Windows version doesn't have comments and footnotes though they are to be added at a later time. I think when you switch from Mac to Windows it makes the footnotes into inline footnotes. I'm not sure where the comments would go.

The revision pens are currently not available in Scrivener for Windows.

This is also the case if you've originally been typing into the document and are using the right click context menu. If you use the keyboard shortcuts there is no issue.
