Re: What Does Your Workspace Look Like?

IMG_7290.jpeg Updated 'workspace' in the House of the Toddler, before I've had time to tidy up. Think daughter teleported all her toys into the living room. This is now my typical writing environment, with my big headphones on, until she's off to bed... how things change since I posted my last pict...

Re: Temporary Scrivener Light

Not a mega fan of the idea of a full-fat iOS version of Scrivener personally (why would I? Current MacBooks are tiny...), but I love this idea of a "light" editor enabling you to dip in and out of .scriv packaged docs. Could be super handy.

Git-like versioning

I wonder how much traction a feature like this would have? VCS is an essential tool of the software developer (or a web developer like me), and sometimes I find myself wishing for something similar I could use for the writing side of my noggin. Example: after a writing session "commit" tha...

Re: Force Click support to activate Lookup.

Thanks for the investigation around this Keith.

There' a solid (free) workaround via BetterTouch and always the built-in key shortcut, so it's not end-of-the-world.

Still... I'm ready and waiting to pay for the mysterious and tantalising 'Scrivener XX' :D

Re: Force Click support to activate Lookup.

And you say that you are seeing this work in TextEdit? I can get Force Touch to bring up look ups in Pages, but not in TextEdit. As Scrivener uses the same text engine as TextEdit, it should act the same in most areas (except where customised). Yep, triggers the popup in TextEdit (OS X 10.11.1, 201...

Re: Force Click support to activate Lookup.

Please explain, as I don't understand the problem. Scrivener uses the standard OS X text system so gestures should be the same in the text area as in TextEdit. Nontroppo pretty much covered it. For some reason the text areas throughout Scrivener ignore Force Touch events. I've installed BetterTouch...

Re: Force Touch "clicks' not working on latest Macs

Works around this missing feature (not a bug) by using BetterTouch applet. It's great :) I've configured Force Touch top right on the trackpad to Lookup words, and top left to lock my screen (security conscious, you know...)

Re: "ForceTouch" support on Macs.

Just found this thread having moaned (a little bit) about lack of Force Touch support in Scrivener, but BetterTouch lets me do that now... and much, much more. Highlight recommend!

Re: Force Touch "clicks' not working on latest Macs

This isn’t the case in Scrivener. In fact, if it’s enabled, you can no longer do “three finger taps” to activate lookups… Is that not the source of the problem right there? Keeping in mind that I am on 10.10 (I have no way of testing the hardware on 10.11 at this time), if I set the look-up gesture...

Force Touch "clicks' not working on latest Macs

OSX 10.11.1 (El Capitan). Scrivener 2.7. Macbook 12", 2015 model. Unsure if this a is bug, or a feature that needs to be implemented in Scrivener. In most OSX 10.11 applications a "hard push" (force touch) on trackpad activates lookup/data features (such as dictionary) on Text. This i...

Force Click support to activate Lookup.

Currently have to disable Force Click in system preferences as it prevents easy access to dictionary lookup in Scrivener (2.7). As this is a system global option, sadly cannot disable it *just* for Scrivener, so loose the 'hard push to lookup word definition' in all application. The one app I'd real...

Re: Performance on 2015 Macbook?

:D Thanks for the replies.

Suspect I'll go for the space gray.

I've the gold-look watch, but not sure I'd dig it on a laptop. Mind you, my other half has the rose gold watch & phone, and they do look nice.

These things matter, right?

Re: Performance on 2015 Macbook?

I think my current MacBook Pro must be feeling jealous as Safari froze posting this the first time... x.x Anyway....! Thank you very much @brookter. This is exactly what I was looking for. I've spent some time playing with a display model at the local Apple Centre, so I've had chance to give the key...
