I am revising a powerpoint presentation and am doing so by 1. Creating pdf files of each slide of the powerpoint and importing these pdf files into Scrivener; thus if there are 45 slides in the presentation, there will be 45 separate "pages" imported into Scrivener as pdfs. 2. Reviewing ea...
Try Tinderbox. I am not at all a fan of it (too complex, I could never get the hang of it; and expensive), but it seems to me that it might be just what you need, mainly because of its flexibility and ability to create links. At least take a look The trial version is quite functional and you should ...
I went to the site and tried to put text into the sample box. Immediately, they want your email and password. To my mind, that is just a way to get email addresses. Obviously, some login is needed if one uses it on an ongoing basis, but for a one-time trial, it is inappropriate.
I am using the latest Scriv with Mac OSX Lion (up to date) and have noticed that when I am using the main screen in Scrivener and want to use another application (e.g. Finder or Safari), that the main screen does NOT give way to the active app. It just stays there and I have to consciously minimize ...
Now, that is amazing. Here I was putting in a comment reflecting my own laziness, and someone has come along and reinforced my laziness by telling me how to get a summary without too much work. I tried it (using OS Services/Summarize) and it is not too bad at all.
I tried the Document --> Auto-Generate Synopsis tool to see how it would deal with a text selection in a document. All it did was to copy the whole thing to the Index card. That is not a synopsis, that is a copy-paste. A synopsis is a summary of the contents of the document and that is not happening...
I purchased WordWeb Pro with the Oxford Shorter English Dictionary (This is short only in the sense that it is not the COMPLETE OED, but still 2 volumes of very fine print if you buy it.) I forget the price, but it was quite manageable, and well worth it.
I don't know. For me it doesn't, but then I have not set up Scrivener to do that and am unsure how to do so. Maybe someone else can answer that. I use WordWeb as a standalone. So if I have a word in Scrivener, I type it into WordWeb and then it provides me with the definition (if in dictionary mode)...
An excellent thesaurus and dictionary combination is WorbWeb. It comes with a dictionary and thesaurus but you can add the Oxford Dictionary or Oxford Shorter Dictionary for a very complete and excellent dictionary. I use WorbWeb constantly when I write, especially to find the 'right' word and to be...
It could be that you have an extra space in the original. Why don't you search for a smaller phrase (e.g. "fluent", or "pretty fluent" or whatever). You may get more hits, but you should find what you want.
I was unaware of the shortcut, but will try to use it in future. I use shortcuts a great deal when writing (old Wordstar addict), but not so much for other stuff.
